Our Weekend

Friday Liam and I went to my parents house for the day and visited with them and my grandparents. Then Liam and I met up with a friend of mine from high school who I haven't seen in forever and her brand new little baby boy, Griffin! It's always fun to find a new mama to talk all things baby with. I see lots of baby play dates in the future whenever we go out there!

Saturday I went to the gym in the morning, and then we got ready to go to Dallas for lunch with some of my favorite people! These are some of my very best friends from college, and I don't get to see them nearly enough. The last time they saw Liam he was a tiny 4 month old and now he's 14 months! We had a great time catching up, and Liam had fun flirting with all his aunties!

After lunch, the three of us did some shopping and of course all the baby stores were having sales...I really hope we have another boy someday because Liam has way too many cute clothes to only be worn a couple of times.

We also got Liam the CUTEST backpack for our flight.

Bad iphone pic, but it has a cow/dragon stuffed animal (odd yet cute?) attached to it.

Saturday evening we went to the pool. I finally took my real camera down instead of just my phone. I have a whole post coming of pictures from the pool. Just wait :)

We had a package from our photographer when we got home on Saturday. She had sent us the prints from the digital files we ordered of Liam's 1 year shoot, but there was also this little book with ALL of his pictures from the shoot! I'm so excited to have this book because there were a ton of pictures I wanted to buy but we had to narrow it down, and it will fit perfectly in his time capsule!

Sunday we went to Sunday school and then to Will's parents house for lunch. Liam had on one of the cute outfits we scored on super sale at Janie & Jack ($10!) so we had a little photo shoot after.

His, "I'm sexy adorable and I know it" face.

The only time I could get him standing still!

Will's dad took Liam on his first lawnmower ride after lunch. He was not thrilled about the loud noise, but I'm pretty sure he will be BEGGING for rides not too long from now!

Unhappy face!

We spent the rest of the day shopping and packing for Denver. We are excited to get away for the week even if Will will be working most of the time. Liam and I will have fun exploring the city!

(Liam's surprise toy for the airplane. Will and I have been having way too much fun with it!)

HAPPY MONDAY!

Time for another round of...

what we've been up to this week!

Shopping! Actually this was last Friday, but I never did a weekend recap so whatever. We were at HomeGoods, and even though I LOVE HomeGoods and always will, lately I've been striking out when I go. Oh, but this day was different! I was able to find the perfect frame for my new Wheatfield print, a fabulous new rug for the kitchen I've been on the lookout for for months now, and some great airplane books for Liam! I love how finding that perfect item (or items) can just put you in a good mood all day!

To keep the shopping momentum up, we popped into Janie & Jack and grabbed a couple new outfits for our beach trip later this summer. J&J is one of my favorite boy stores, but it is SO dang expensive so I always shop the sale section. And then pray for another boy so I can use everything twice :)

Liam had a blast in the children's section at Barnes and Nobles. He made a little friend and was trying to show off by climbing up on the adirondack chairs and giving me a heart attack. This new walking/climbing/thinking I'm invincible business is not easy on this mama!

While we were at B&N my mom and I spotted a bunch of old school Fisher Price toys they had brought back! There was this phone, an old record player, a cuckoo clock, and an old TV that you had to wind up and it played nursery rhymes. I wanted to buy them all!

Me posing by the fountain. Liam deciding which direction to try and dive in.

Earlier this week we had a playdate at our neighborhood pool, but I didn't get any pictures. Liam was the only one interested in the water in the beginning, and then towards the end when some of the other babies were starting to warm up to the idea, he was over it and just wanted to eat.

Liam going in for a drink out of the dog's food bowl. Luckily it was empty. This time.

We spend a good amount of our day out on the back porch these days. Liam insists on being outside and will stand at the door and point and yell until I open it, but it's SO hot already and sunscreen is SO time consuming (when you include the post- sunscreen bath) that I try to keep us in the shade as much as possible.

I set up Liam's water table finally, and he loved it! He decided he'd had enough of swim diapers and swimsuits (and was already outside in just a diaper) so he played in the buff. I don't mind staring at that little hiney, and hopefully he won't mind that it's on the internet :)

My mom came over Wednesday to help me work on the quiet book some more, but that of course led to more shopping. I actually didn't get anything this time, but am still dying over this chair! This is the picture I texted to Will begging him that the chair needed to come home with me, but he hasn't been convinced yet. I'm going to try to get him up there this weekend to personally sit in it and experience it's excellence.

Isn't she gorgeous??

On Tuesday I bought the book Bloom. I've been wanting to read it for awhile now as I have been following the author's blog for some time, but told myself I had to finish my other book first. Well that didn't happen, but what did happen was me staying up until midnight Tuesday night in the tub reading. I finished the book on Thursday. I laughed, cried, and laughed while crying. In short, it was amazing. Do yourself a favor and read it. And take your eye makeup off first.

Yesterday Liam and I went to a Milk and Cookies play date! Isn't that the cutest!? My friend Tracey hosted, and even though she claims to be totally un-crafty, she came up with and planned out the whole thing herself and it was darling! She painted all the little wood shapes with chalkboard paint for labels, hand-made to-go boxes for each guest, prepared mason jars with stripey straws and cute jugs of milk, and had it all displayed so perfect! She's ridiculously crafty, but won't admit it just because she doesn't sew, haha.

My contribution: Flip-Flop Nutter Butters!

I slaved y'all...these took all of 10 minutes to whip up, but who doesn't love Nutter Butters??

News on the Liam front: He now knows how to stand up by himself! It just happened on Wednesday night, 6/6. He was playing with tupperware on the floor while I cooked dinner and all of a sudden I looked up and he's up on his hands and feet and he slowly raises himself up to standing! I know I've said this a million times, but NOW I really feel like he's a full-time walker. If he falls down in the middle of the room, he no longer has to crawl to something to pull himself back up, he just stands up and keeps on going!

He can also now identify where his belly button is! It's pretty much the cutest thing ever to watch him go hunting for it until his finger lands inside his little innie when I say, "Liam, where's your belly button?" We're working on nose too, but he'll only grab mine!

We are laying low this weekend and packing because Monday we are flying to Denver for the week! Will has a work trip, so Liam and I are tagging along. It's going to be a 2 hour flight, and we didn't buy Liam his own seat so I will let y'all know how it goes. I've bought him some new "airplane" toys and we will have lots of drinks and snacks along with Disney shows on the ipad ready to go, so hopefully that will see us through! Wish us luck!

Friday Photos and Confessions...

 Confession:

- I am a bad wife. I forgot one of my anniversary gifts. And it was the biggest thing too...whoops. Good thing Will didn't notice until after I did.

He got me this platter from Anthropologie.

This is an old picture, but I think it will look perfect hanging under the E-A-T letters. Yes? No?

- Yesterday I was trying on old (ie: pre-baby) bikinis and getting depressed because they either A) don't fit right anymore or B) the ones that still look halfway decent don't adequately hide the stretch marks. Boo. I'm slowly accepting one pieces will be my new poolside attire. To make myself feel better I did what any girl would do...I baked cookies. And also ordered this super cute swimsuit from the Gap. Hey, if I'm doomed to wear mom suits at 25, at least they will be cute ones!

- It has been raining all week and yesterday the sun finally showed it's face. Poor Liam was crying and pointing at his SmartTrike all morning because he wanted to go for a walk so bad. But it was still that humid post-rain grossness outside that I didn't feel like getting out in. So I plopped him in his seat and took him for a ride...through the living room and kitchen. LAME. But true.

- Will's car is in the shop and he's been driving mine to work, so Liam and I have been homebound all week. For the past 4 days I have only gotten dressed once, and it was only for about an hour. Other than that, it's been sweat pants or Nike shorts and a t-shirt all.week.long. Why waste an outfit if you can't leave the house, right?

- I have a new trashy television show that I looove. Mrs. Eastwood and Company. Has anyone else seen it? I think she's hilarious!

Insta-Friday w/ Life Rearranged.

Last week Liam woke up from his nap and we had milk outside on the porch. It was too pretty outside not to.

I bought Liam that hat from Target in hopes that I could train him to keep it on for vacation. It worked!

We had a pool playdate with Mallory and their friend Sean last week. How cute do the two of them look riding in the wagon together?!

On the way home Liam must have been worn out from playing so hard because he leaned himself back on the pile of towels and just relaxed. It was so funny!

On the way down to Galveston I snapped the picture on the right of Liam napping in the car. I couldn't help noticing how similar it was to a newborn picture I had saved in my phone and had to do a little side by side comparison. I can't believe he's grown so much so fast yet I can still see a little bit of that sweet newborn in his sleeping face.

Speaking of sleeping, he was the nap king to and from Galveston and spent most of the car rides passed out.

We downloaded some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse onto Will's ipad for the drive too, but Liam was more interested in playing footsie with the ipad than watching the video. And then he would get super mad when he would accidentally pause it. That was fun.

Liam playing with his sand toys - he was more into them than I expected him to be!

Will built Liam some mini sand castles and then he would knock them down with his shovels.

Along with the car rides, Liam took some great naps on the beach. I could seriously stare at that face for hours...

My mom surprised us with some yummy cake balls and a bottle of wine for our anniversary! Why yes, they were all gone in 2 days. Thanks for asking.

Liam enjoyed his snack of goldfish on the beach and insisted on holding the bowl. Such a big boy.

Liam enjoying two new favorite things - the beach and icees! We gave him a taste of Will's on the drive home, and he got the biggest smile on his face and would NOT give it up! It was quite dramatic getting it out of his tight little grip.

Liam and Georgia making a run for it at the pool. They were so cute together!

Liam trying to feed the seagulls. That was my fault - I wasn't thinking and tossed a few goldfish Liam had dropped to the side and they all came flocking at us. Of course Liam was thrilled and started intentionally throwing his goldfish at him. I'm pretty sure people were giving us the stink eye. I know Will was :)

Liam passed out again on the ride home.

The other day Liam was messing with the remote and paused the movie. I told him to fix it, and he pointed the remote to the tv! I guess he's seen me do that a time or two!

On Wednesday Liam and I along with Amanda and Mallory went to go meet the newest baby in our Sunday School class. The first of nine to come within the year! Our friends Regan and Shey already have a Liam of their own, and now they have another sweet baby boy named Lucan! He was so cute!

While I was holding Lucan, Liam kept trying to climb up me. He may have been a little jealous, but he wasn't whining so I kind of think he just wanted to see what it was, haha. Shey held him next to me and Liam was just staring at Lucan.

-------

Some of you have already seen the pictures of Liam and Georgia on Emily's blog, but I had a couple of my favorites too because they're just too cute not to.

The two of them were splashing on the side of the pool, and all of a sudden Georgia just came at Liam with arms open and hugged him! It was just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. It was even cute when they lost their balance and fell into the water, haha. It's okay though, there were eight arms to come to the rescue.

I love their matching squinty eyes!

Bon Weekend!
