A Week in the Life - Thursday

Liam woke up at 6:15 - finally a more normal time! I fed him and we stayed in bed until 7:30. Then we got up and I ate breakfast and attempted to take Liam for a walk. However...Will had taken the front wheel of the jogging stroller off to fit it in the car over the weekend and I couldn't get it back on. Fail. So we settled for sitting on the back porch and listening to the birds for a while.

Liam napped from 8:45-9:30 while I did the dishes and some laundry. When he woke up I fed him and then we just played for awhile. I know I sound like a broken record, but I love the mornings with him. He is so happy and smiley!

Around 11 we went to run some errands and by the third store Liam was done and started to get fussy so we headed home a little early. He sat in his swing while I put stuff away and then I fed him around 12:30. He went down for his nap at 1.

This is where the day got tricky. I decided to call the nurse at our Pedi's office to talk to her about Liam's spit-up issues. I didn't think it was a big deal, but I am always worried about whether or not he's getting enough to eat so I just needed some reassurance. We both agreed that it didn't sound like acid reflux because he doesn't get fussy, but she suggested we come in for a weight check just in case. So I scheduled an appointment for 4:30.

No matter that we had someone to be that was 30 min. away by 6:30 and I hadn't showered or gotten either of us ready!

So I woke Liam up from his nap at 3 and attempted to transfer him to the bathroom to finish his nap while I showered. He didn't fall back to sleep, but he did fine so it worked out. I quickly showered and did my hair, then threw on some clothes, fed him, and we were out the door by 4.

Got back from the doctor's office at 5. Liam is perfectly fine! Dr. said he does spit-up more than the average baby (usually 2-3 times per feeding!) but that as long as it's not causing him pain or it's not projectile, he should grow out of it. And he is growing! At his 2 month appointment he weighed 10 lbs 7 oz and was in the 10th percentile, and today at 3 months we was 12 lbs 4 oz and in the 20th percentile. So all is well!

From 5-6 I did my makeup, got dressed, washed Liam's hair (poor thing got his mama's hair genes and it gets grea-sy!) and got him dressed, fed him one more quick time to fill him up, packed the diaper bag and we were out the door.

What was supposed to take 30 min ended up taking nearly an hour thanks to traffic, but by 7 Liam and I were sitting at Mi Cocina with some of my very favorite people! Two of my best girlfriends were in for the night from out of state so a bunch of us met up for dinner. Will met us there from work to. I love these girls and don't see them nearly enough so we had the best time catching up! And of course they all got to meet Liam who stole the show. Can I just say I have the best baby ever??? :) We were there for almost 3 hours and he was such a doll! He was passed around all night long, ate once, never napped, and was happy as a clam the whole time! He seemed a little overwhelmed by the restaurant noise and all the new faces at first, but it didn't take him long to break out the smiles and let everyone fawn over him. :)

After dinner I drove Will's car home with Liam and he took mine so he could fill up the tank. Such a nice hubby. :) We got home about 10-something and I fed Liam and Will is putting him down right now. I am about to PASS out - it was a long day!

A Week in the Life - Wednesday

Liam went down last night at 9:15 but I hadn't fed him since 8 sooo....he woke up hungry at 4:30. Oy! Today is his 3 month birthday so maybe he just wanted to get the party stared early?! Luckily he only nursed for about 15 minutes and then went back to sleep until 7.

I got up at 7 too, went and fed/let out the dogs, then got Liam up. I fed him, ate breakfast, and we hung out on the couch. Around 8:30 I showered and then gave Liam a bath. I promise I don't shower everyday and I definitely don't get all cute; it just helps me wake up!

"Mom, you really think a squeaky little giraffe is going to keep me occupied while you shower??"

"You were right!"

Liam napped from 10-11 and I just hung around watching TV and catching up on blogs. When he woke up I fed him and then we headed to Target.

When we got back I put Liam down for his nap. He slept from 1-3:45; one hour was in his crib. I ate lunch, pumped, watched What Not To Wear, and pretty much just lounged while he slept. Pretty unproductive..

I had to take a picture of his outfit before I changed him into his 3 month onesie because I think it is so cute!

Love me some pouffy diaper butt :)

When Liam woke up I fed him and then we went to the bakery to get his 3 month treat. Not that he gets to eat it...it's for me and Will to celebrate surviving another month...but it's cute in pictures...and tastes yummy. When we got back we had Liam's 3 month photo shoot and then he fell asleep at 6. Apparently being dressed up and told, "Liam, smile for mama!" a million times will tire a baby out. Who knew? :)

nom, nom, nom.

At 6:30 Liam woke up and Will got home from work so I fed him, we snapped our 3 month family pic, and then went to Costco. We came home and ate dinner and then Will played with Liam for awhile. I fed him at 9:30 and Will put him down afterwards. Then we watched 16 and Pregnant. WOW.

Goodnight!

Three Months.

Liam Briggs, you are 3 months old today!

What are you up to?

You eat about every 3 hours during the day. If you nurse you take about 15-20 minutes and if I give you a bottle you take 5 ounces. You are still 100% on breast milk.

You sleep about 9 hours each night usually going to bed around 9-9:30 and waking up around 6. Sometimes a little earlier, sometimes as late as 7! Although since last week you've been a little "off" so your schedule may be changing...

Our scale says you are 13.2 lbs. and you are 25 inches long! You're definitely not a chunky baby by any stretch, but I can tell you're growing by just looking at you and your clothes are getting tight. I think I just produce skim milk, ha!

You can still wear your 0-3 month clothes, but a lot of your onesies are becoming difficult to button at the bottom. I have put you in a few 3-6 month outfits. Daddy and I packed up all your newborn clothes on Sunday and it made Mommy sad :( But then I looked at how many cute 3-6 month clothes you have and I got excited to play dress-up :)

You still hate tummy time but you are getting stronger so we keep doing it! You can now lift your head and chest up off the ground with your arms and you can turn you head both ways and look around when we hold you. You had your first roll last week, but just the one. You will roll onto your side though.

Because your neck is getting stronger I have started putting you in your Bumpo. You seem to like it okay, but I think you will like it more as you get bigger. You definitely like sitting up as opposed to being on your back or propped up all the time.

You still talk and smile ALL the time but we haven't heard that precious laugh yet! I know it's coming and a few times we've thought maybe you let out a giggle, but I know we'll know it when we hear it. I can't wait! Any day now...

You enjoy eating your hands, but you have also learned how to grab things and put them in your mouth. Bibs, blankets, my hair, toys - as soon as you get a grip on them you go straight for your mouth. You also drool A LOT.

You have started reacting to your reflection. When we used to play with you in front of a mirror you would just stare. Now you have started smiling back at yourself and talking, it's too funny!

You really are a very happy little baby and I thank you for that! The only times you get rip-roaring mad are at meal time and when you're sleepy. I've learned to distinguish the two cries so that definitely helps. If it's a hunger cry, it's a pretty quick fix. But when you're tired you will sometimes fight it and can cry for up to half and hour. Usually Will takes over those because I'll go deaf otherwise, haha.

You LOVE it when I sing Itsy-Bitsy Spider to you and Patty Cake. You will watch my hands go through the motions and you give me the biggest smiles! When we do Patty Cake I do the motions with your feet and you love that too.

Some firsts for you this month have been...

Your first roll!

Your first road trip! You did fabulous in the car and mommy is so happy you don't have my motion sickness (at least not yet). It was also your first time out of state!

Your first night not sleeping at home in your cradle. While we were out of town you slept in your pack-n-play and you did awesome. We brought your Gentle Giraffe and you slept right next to our bed just like at home.

Your first time in the pool! You have been swimming 5 times now and you like it better and better each time.

You went to your first "party." We took you to our friends Brianna and Eric's housewarming party and you were a big hit!

You went to your first parade! You slept through the first part of it and ate your mardi gras beads through the rest of it. You will be going to another one this fall so maybe you'll be more interested then.

We LOVE you sweet boy!

A Week in the Life - Tuesday

I stayed up way too late last night working on a photobook. Needless to say when Liam woke up at 5:40 this morning I was not ready to start the day. I fed him in bed and we both went back to sleep until 7:30. When he woke up he was acting a little hungry still so I went ahead and fed him again and then we snuggled and played in bed until 8. I love lazy mornings although they tend to lead to lazy days. (which is exactly what happened, haha)

At 8 I got up, fed the dogs their treats and let them outside, changed Liam and got him ready for the day, ate a quick breakfast, and jumped in the shower.

I got us all ready to go to a playdate, but had a dumb mommy moment and didn't double check the time in my email so we missed it! So we just lounged around the house, watched TV, and played instead. I fed Liam around 11.

Liam went down for a nap at 12:30 and I made lunch. Even though I already had breakfast I was really craving scrambled eggs so I just had breakfast again, no biggie. :) I also started some more laundry.

Liam woke up an hour into his nap. I'm trying to put him down in his crib and it isn't going so well. Yesterday he only lasted about 45 minutes and then slept 2+ more hours in his swing. Today I let him cry it out for about ten minutes, then rocked him back to sleep and put him back in his crib. About 2 minutes later he woke up. Ugh. We'll try again tomorrow. He went back down about 2:15 in his swing and surprise, surprise...I did more laundry! I'm really determined to get it all knocked out. I also made Liam's week thirteen photo collage.

Liam woke up at 3:15 so I fed him and then we had some playtime. He practiced sitting in his Bumpo and he's getting pretty good! He still has a bit of a bobble-head, but you can tell he's getting stronger! We also had some tummy time which he hated of course.

Then I brought him into the office with me and worked on his photo book while he played on his play gym. He's really into the mirror right now. I need to get a video of him in front of a mirror because it's so funny! He'll just smile and smile at himself!

I fed Liam again at 5:30 and then at 6 we had to have a wardrobe change because he spit up all over himself. He spits up a lot so this is nothing new for us. He fell asleep at 6:30 and I prepared dinner while waiting for Will to get home. Liam woke up just as we were sitting down to dinner and was pretty fussy so we took turns holding him while we ate.

I changed Liam into one of his Baylor onesies and I noticed we were both sporting our Baylor gold so I had to take a picture!

I fed Liam a little after 8 and now the two of us are hanging out while Will mows the grass. I'm hoping to get him down for the night pretty soon because he is fussy and I am tired!

A Week in the Life - Monday

Kelly from KellysKorner is doing this and I thought it would be fun to do it too. Everyday this week I'm going to document what we do throughout the day. It might get boring, but I think it will be fun for us to look back on later.

Liam woke up around 6. Will's alarm didn't go off so we all got up then. Usually Will is up at out of the house around 5:15. Crazy I know, but he likes to workout before work. It was nice having him there to talk to this morning. I nursed Liam in bed and then let him play on the bed while I folded laundry.

At 7 Will left for work. I showered and got dressed and Liam hung out in the bathroom with me.

Norma showed up around 9 to clean so Liam and I hung out in the office. I fed him a bottle and then he napped while I caught up on some blogging. I also made a list of the ingredients I need to get for Will's birthday cake, Paula Deen's Coconut Cake, yum!

Liam and I left to go run some errands and get groceries. Our new HomeGoods opened this past weekend so I had to go check it out.

(I really wanted the lamp on the right, but I don't have anywhere to put it!)

When we got home I fed Liam and read People magazine. Then I put him down for a nap around 1 :30and ate lunch. I also did some "pinning" on Pinterest and started more laundry. I'm attempting to tackle the insane mound that is taking over our closet!

Liam woke up a little after 4:30. When he got up I fed him then we played for a bit. He is so happy and smiley after his naps, I love it. Around 5:30 I got dinner started and then left it for later because we had a softball game. We met Will at his parents' house, dropped off Liam, and headed to the game where we finally WON! I actually caught a ball in the outfield and got an out too! That is probably going to be my one shining moment this season, but it was fun :)

We picked up Liam around 8 and came home. I fed him and then we ate yummy tacos. I also got the idea for tacos from Kelly's blog too because hers looked so good! Then I bathed Liam and Will just put him to sleep at 9:45.

Now I'm going to go hang out with Will until bedtime!

Just Peachy!

Liam survived his first road trip and we had a really good weekend! We drove to Louisiana to visit my mom's side of the family and go to the Peach Festival.

We got in late Friday night and stayed at my Aunt and Uncle's house with my parents. Liam did really well in the car, and even though we didn't get in until nearly midnight he woke up and let everyone pass him around for awhile. His schedule was so off the whole weekend and he barely took any naps, but both nights he went back to sleeping through the night thank goodness! I'm so thankful to have such a flexible baby!

Saturday morning we went to the parade.

Family pic in front of the giant Magnolia tree in my Aunt and Uncles yard.

Doesn't he look thrilled, haha. He's not a fan of hats.

Liam got mardi gras beads! But he thought they belonged in his mouth, not around his neck.

Saturday afternoon we just hung out and visited, napped, and did a little shopping.

Saturday night we all went out to dinner and then back to the festival for homemade peach ice cream and music. Unfortunately the music was WAY too loud for Liam so the three of us left early.

Sunday morning we lounged around my Aunt Sue and Uncle Kenny's house for a bit and then headed home. It was a quick trip, but it was fun and Liam got to meet two Great Aunts, his Great Uncle and some cousins!

Liam did so well in the car. We drove about 4.5 hours each way and he slept about 90% of the time! I'm so glad to know he travels well because we are driving to Houston in two weeks!

Dear 3 Month Growth Spurt,

I hate you.

Like really, really hate you.

My sweet, lovable baby boy has turned into a demon child since you showed up.

The latest he has slept this week is 6am...normally it's at least 6:30. And that was only once. This morning it was 3:30. Then again at 4:40. That hasn't happened since he was a newborn. No thank you.

I had a baby who used to eat every 3-4 hours like clockwork who has now been permanently camped out on my chest for the past 3 days. He wants to eat almost every hour. And if he falls asleep nursing and I try to set him down, boom, eyes open and screaming until I put him back on.

Naps? What naps? 30 minutes if I'm lucky.

Paci? What paci? He spits it out every.single.time.

This too shall pass right? Until the 4 month...6 month...and so on growth spurts show up. I'm sure I'll hate them all just as much as I hate you.

Liam? LOVE him to death. Can't wait for my happy, smiley baby to return.

Growth spurt? You SUCK!

Not-So-Sincerely,

*Update* Thanks for all the encouragement ladies! I actually wrote this yesterday when I just needed to vent, but today has been world's better! We are entering into hour three of naptime, woohoo! Grow, baby, grow! :)

Wednesday Loves!

hosted by Jamie!

This Wednesday I'm loving...

...awesome sales at my favorite kids clothing stores!

Last weekend, Will and I stocked up at Janie & Jack...

(I had been lusting after their Red Bicycle line for some time now which is where the three red items came from. Score!)

Liam's first pair of jeans! I can't believe these are seriously going to fit him in the very near future. That's so depressing...

My mom also snagged Liam's cute Father's Day outfit from the sale.

I thought they looked like lederhosen so Will started calling them Liam-hosen! Made me giggle :)

And today I went into Gymboree and had NO idea they were having a HUGE sale! I spent $38 on all this and saved over $140! Liam is set for this winter!

...sitting outside with my baby on a sunny day.

We sat in the shade and it was actually only 90* - not too shabby for Texas!

(and I'm loving Instagram, duh)

(Liam, not so much.)

...that we're taking Liam on his first road trip this weekend!

We're going to Louisiana to introduce him to some of my extended family. 4+ hours in the car with an infant should be interesting. I have a feeling we will be making a few stops along the way!

I got this to help keep Liam occupied in the car. He is starting to notice and enjoy the hangy things on his carseat so I think he will like it!

...that Liam rolled over for the first time today!!!

He absolutely hates tummy time and today he got so fed up with it, he just rolled himself right over onto his back to be done with it. Even though he was screaming crying while he did it, I was so excited! Ha! I didn't capture the roll, but I got some before shots of the tummy time demise...

"Look Ma! It's not so bad!"

"Ok, scratch that. I'm over it."

"No, seriously. I'm done."

"Seriously! DONE!"

Then I took away the little bolster and let him just wiggle around for a bit and he flipped! Woohoo!

Love that little nugget :)

Happy Wednesday!
