Eight Months.

Liam Briggs, you are eight months old!

What have you been up to???

(Besides all the fancy footwork!?)

You weigh somewhere around 18 pounds. At the doctor on November 11th you weighed 17 lb 14 oz.

You wear size 3-6, 6-9 and 6-12 clothes. The length is great and even too short in some cases, but of course most outfits are loose in the tummy!

We are finishing up your last bit of size 2 diapers and will be moving on to 3's here in the next few days.

You nurse/have a bottle 4 times a day and eat three solid meals.

If it's possible, you have become an even better sleeper this past month! Well, sleeping at night is still the same, but your naps have been great! You sleep 8-8 or 8:30-8:30, either way 12 hours is your average. We've started keeping you up a little later because Daddy doesn't usually get home until close to 7 and just wasn't getting enough time with you each day. Naps are 11-1 and usually 3:30-4:30 or 4-5 almost every single day. Not only that, but I used to have to rock you for a bit and shush you before putting you down, but now for some reason you don't like that and prefer to just go straight in your crib and wiggle around until you fall asleep. It's been so nice!

You are such a talker! Your "real" words are "dada" and "yeah" although you don't associate them with anything. You babble all day long - I've heard at least g,w,b,r, and y sounds followed by -a or -oo sounds. Other than talking, you gurgle, yell, and laugh pretty much all day long.

This month we attended Baby Bounce classes at our local library once a week with our friends Tracey and Max, and it was so fun! The librarian reads the babies (and mommies) a story and then we all sing songs and say nursery rhymes. Next week is the last class until January, and I'm super sad about it.

Still no crawling, but your dad and I were late walkers (I don't know about crawling) so it's not that surprising. BUT this month has been a 180 in terms of tummy time, and you will actually voluntarily roll onto your tummy and stay there to play! That has NEVER happened! And you have figured out that if you roll enough times you can usually get to whatever toy or object you want. Many times I look over and you have rolled right off the rug and are wiggling around on the wood floor. You also do a sort of scoot type thing, but you go in a circle instead of forward or backward so it doesn't really accomplish much. It looks cute though! You are mostly just content to sit and play, but I'm sure as soon as you get curious enough you'll be on you way!

Things You Love:

Feeding yourself! Oh my goodness, I have to HIDE the puffs container until after meals because you will refuse to open your mouth for the spoon if you see finger food! Your fine motor skills are awesome and you can eat puff after puff perfectly. You have tried little bite size pieces of banana and potato, but I can't wait to really dive into finger foods this month!

Your walker! You will follow me from room to room in that thing, and you're getting pretty good on both carpet and the wood floors. If we are in the kitchen you go straight for the towels hanging on the stove and pull them off every time! We have also gone ahead and put safety covers on all the sockets because they are at the perfect height for your little fingers.

Standing! You can stand forever if you have something to hold onto. You like to "walk" too with us holding your hands. And I don't know WHAT you were thinking, but on Thanksgiving day you were sitting in your fuzzy chair in the living room and randomly stood straight up out of it! What??! Luckily Daddy was right there to catch you because you fell right over of course. You also did it the next day while sitting in my lap but grabbed on to the coffee table and stayed up! You're crazy.

Bath time as usual. I look like I just came from a pool party after bathing you because my clothes are always so soaked from your splashing.

Playing Peek A Book or "Where's Liam?" "Where's Mommy?" - you get the idea!

Your favorite toys this month are the remote (probably your number one favorite!), cell phones (tied for first), your B. blocks, and your soft stackable rings. AND you love to bang/throw everything.

Things You Don't Love:

Having a toy/object taken away. I used to be able to distract you with something else fairly quickly and you would forget about it, but now you will have a full on meltdown if I take something away from you and refuse the new toy!

The nasal aspirator. We've been using it the past few days for your runny nose and you HATE it.

Being passed around to a lot of people. You are a flirt and can handle it for a while, but when you're away from home ALL day long and being paraded around you get pretty sick of it. I don't blame you.

Firsts:

You got your first TOOTH! It finally popped through on November 20th, and it is SO cute! Maybe you'll get another one soon and have your two front teeth by Christmas :)

You tried puffs, plums, pineapple, and strawberries for the first time this month and like them all. Your Daddy also made you some homemade applesauce with cinnamon and you go crazy over it. It smells SO good!

You celebrated your first Thanksgiving and were the cutest little turkey. And you will have your first Christmas celebration this weekend!

You pooped in the bath tub! How we have gone 8 months and this is the first time it's happened I don't know, but it has happened twice this month...GROSS!

You also had your first fever which must have just been a 24 hour bug because it's gone now, woohoo!

(trying to sneak a taste)

Happy 8 Months Liam!

We love you oh so much!

Misc. Monday: The Where Have I Been Edition

Alternate Title: Crazy Long So Brace Yourself.

Linking up with Carissa!

Blogging has taken a backseat this week - sorry. The hubs has been home since Wednesday, so I've been kind of distracted hanging out with him. It's been fun having him home though, so I guess I'm not really that sorry!

The past week or so we've been...

- shopping! Last, last weekend we had a family date night in Dallas and went shopping and out to dinner at Henks. It's our favorite German restaurant, and Liam has now been twice! We also did some "black Friday" shopping although I'm not sure if we would qualify as true black Friday shoppers since we didn't leave the house until 11am. Liam slept in until 9 that morning and I certainly wasn't about to wake him up. We weren't looking for anything special, but we scored some cheapo DVDs at Target and cute clothes for LB at Old Navy. Then we hit up the outlet mall and went a little crazy at J. Crack Crew. That always happens! But it's okay because it's going under the tree :)

We got Liam this cute little elephant for being so good while we shopped for over 4 hours. And because I thought it was a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. and needed an excuse to buy it.

I spy a little piggy stuffing his face full of puffs. Do you see the accordion player in the background?

And just for fun - here's a video of Liam in the Target dressing room. He found a friend!

I also did some online shopping and was able to check a lot of gifts off my shopping list! We are actually almost completely done, and it's not even December yet. Fist pump!

- decorating! We usually don't start putting out Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving, but because Will was home we went ahead and started on Wednesday. We were barely even home on Thursday anyways so it didn't really make a difference. I did most of the indoor decorating (except for the trees, we do those together) and Will took care of the outside. I LOVE how it all looks! Especially the outside. And especially because it was freezing and windy the whole time Will was outside while Liam and I were warm and toasty watching from the window. Liam has such a nice Daddy to do that for me him.

Will fluffing the tree.

I LOVE this picture! Liam was so interested in the twinkle lights and limbs and kept touching them. BUT he never attacked them so I think I'm safe for one more year.

- celebrating Thanksgiving with the fam! On Thursday we had Thanksgiving lunch at my Aunt's house, came home for a short break, and then had Thanksgiving dinner at Will's parents' house. We are lucky that our families are close enough to be able to spend time with both during the holidays, but it is hard driving back and forth all day long. Liam was pretty overwhelmed too from being passed around all day, so the hour and a half break we had at home was nice for everyone. We had a great time and Liam looked so darn cute!

This was actually Thanksgiving Eve which happened to be my Dad's birthday! This is the picture I sent my Dad of Liam laughing because he's old :)

He had sweet potatoes and turkey for lunch! He may have also had a little taste of pumpkin pie and banana pudding :)

Forgot to take a family picture until the last minute...this is the best we got. Oh well!

Watching the Cowboys WIN!

The Thanksgiving set-up at Will's parents' house. I love the addition of the high chair!

- addressing, addressing, addressing! I mentioned I'm hosting a bridal shower for a friend next month so I got all the invites for that mailed out last week. And since I was in the zone and had already gotten a Christmas delivery from our friends at Shutterfly, I went ahead and made a nice dent in our Christmas card list!

- hanging out around the house, spending lots of time with Liam, watching Christmas movies, and having fun! I love when Will's home. I'm SO excited he's taking off the week in between Christmas and New Year's. I can't wait!

I thought the old high chair at this restaurant was neat so I took a picture. Liam was busy people watching!

Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Thanksgiving morning!

We also had another first yesterday....Liam's first fever. We knew something wasn't right the night before when he woke up SIX times during the night. He never wakes up. His nose has been super runny and he had a mild fever all day. I kept him home while Will went to church and he was so whiney and clingy poor thing. He took 5 naps throughout the day which is also very unlike him, and two of them were on my chest (which he hasn't done in months!) We gave him Tylenol and took turns holding him pretty much all day. He did not want to eat and was just not his usual happy self. It was not a fun day for him, but I kind of enjoyed the extra snuggles I have to admit. He slept all night last night but appears to still be a little feverish this morning. Hopefully this little bug or whatever it is will move on soon!

Our day yesterday :(

26 days til ChRiStMaS!

And look who's excited about it?

He is his mother's son :)

Christmas Photos.

When I asked Will about having our Christmas card photos taken he laughed at me. Actually laughed. Then when I added up how much we've spent on Liam's baby pictures I laughed too. Or cried maybe.

Anywho, that meant this year's Christmas photos would be taken by Photos By Lyndsey.

We got up way too early on a Saturday morning and went to the same field Will and I took our maternity photos. The shots in the tall dead grass were some of favorites so I knew I wanted to do something similar. They are not professional by any means, but I was very happy with how they turned out. Especially for zero dollars!

Oh, and I asked Will for a remote for the self-timer on my camera for Christmas. Running back and forth and trying to look decent in 10 seconds was exhausting!
