Week 8 Recap!

Monday was President's Day which meant NO SCHOOL! And Will was off work too which was great because he was about to leave us for the rest of the week. He watched the kids and some of their friends while we went to the gym, and then the big kids went back home with friends for a few hours. It was really fun just having the afternoon with Elias! That never happens! It gave a little glimpse of what our Fridays will look like next year when both Liesl and Liam are in school.

So Liesl wanted curlers in her hair Sunday night again. The first time I used sponge rollers and this time I used these tube roller things. Look at those spirals! They held up all day and looked so darling....except for the one section that fell out during the night and was completely straight. Had it not been for that section, I would have totally kept it curly and let her wear it to school. We will keep trying!

Tuesday morning we said goodbye to Will until Friday and Liam had spring pictures! I always try and take pictures of them at home before they leave on picture day in case things don't go well at school, haha. But this morning we were too busy so a quick snap in the car had to do! He looked so handsome! And that's it for Tuesday!

On Wednesday Liesl had a little playdate after gymnastics which she always looks forward to. The girls had too much fun playing, dressing up, and coloring!

I got a fun order in the mail! I just love graphic tees and checkered shorts for little boys. Elias is set for spring!

Wednesday afternoon the kids played and played upstairs before things got crazy. Then it was a quick dinner, early baths, pajamas for Elias, up to the church to drop off the big kids, a trip to Target for me and E to kill an hour, back to the church to pick up the big kids, drop off Liam for basketball practice, and then home and bed! Liam got home later thanks to a sweet friend and was showered and in bed as quick as I could get him. He's about to have a lot of late nights with baseball season starting, but I really try to get him as much sleep as possible when things are crazy!

We love these Grimm's wooden blocks. Liam and I made this and Elias vroomed his cars all over them until it fell. And repeat.

Elias loved sliding down the stairs at church in his fleece pjs. Apparently they slide extra good!

Thursday chapel picture of Elias. And his cheese face.

A firefighter came to school today for Community Helper months the kids left with firefighter hats, coloring books, and tattoos!

After school I *think* we just stayed home, did homework and played. The kids played outside for a long time while I cleaned up the house and that was about it! I let the big kids sleep in my bed but Elias was having a hard time falling asleep, so I ended up in his room until about 11pm rocking him. This NEVER happens so I was soaking it up even if I was super tired!

On Friday I took the littles to play at PlayQ. It's our local version of a PlayStreet Museum, and it's really cute! The kids had a blast with friends for over two hours. I got brave after and decided to take them out to lunch at Mi Cocina. It went okayyyy, haha. Elias is always a wildcard, but it could have been worse. But the salad I'd been craving for a good month was worth it!

After lunch was naps and then school pick up. I took the kids to a new cookie and ice cream shop to kill the last hour of time before Will CAME HOME! We always love when Daddy walks through the door, but especially after four days away! We didn't do our usual pizza and movie night this week. Instead I spent a whole hour at Target by myself and then brought home dinner for everyone (from THREE different places - Mama's NOT doing that again!)

Saturday Liam had a basketball game (undefeated with one game left! All I ever take are videos, womp womp.) and then we spent the rest of the day OUTSIDE! Hallelujah for sunshine!!! We went on a long walk, played in the driveway, checked out a new model home in our neighborhood just for fun, and then hit up the park after Elias' nap.

We did run to Costco for groceries before Liam's game and Liesl insisted on wearing her baby so she could take a nap in the store. Little mama!

It started to get chilly by this point so we didn't stay too long.

When sister just wants to pose for a picture and brother jumps in yelling "PHOTOBOMBBBBB!" 7 year olds, gotta love em.

We wrapped up the night with tacos and Sherlock Gnomes.

Sunday morning views while making breakfast. We always have cinnamon rolls and bacon before church and these three are here.for.it. I hope they always sit at the breakfast table and tease each other in the mornings!

After lunch, Liesl went to a friends house, Elias took a nap, and we played video games with Liam! We have an old school Nintendo so we played Mario Bros. and some other weird games I didn't know. Then of course it was the Oscars red carpet and some of the show before bedtime for the kids and bible study for me. Liam and Liesl begged to sleep in the living room and were shocked when we actually said yes on a school night! This was my view when I got home around 9:30!

Week 7 Recap!

Hello, hello!

Another week has come and gone -- I am SO excited for spring to get here and the weeks really are flying by lately but then that also makes me sad because tiiiiime is such a thief! Anywho, this was our week last week!

Monday I have zero pictures other than screen shots of kids furniture that I sent to Will. We are gearing up to get Liam a bunk bed and eventually move the boys in together. Maybe over the summer? Not sure about the exact timeline yet, but we are going to go ahead and get the bunk beds because Liesl pretty much lives in there too. I'm super excited about it! I know that I also went to the gym that day, Liesl had dance, and Liam had basketball - and that's our typical Monday!

On Tuesday we all had work and school. Since it was Valentine's week, the kids indulged me and posed for pictures before school! These were honestly the best I got, lol.

Thanks to Elias' shirt, we busted out our robot dance moves!

Wednesday was a bit of a crazy day. Will had to fly to NYC for the day, and it happened to be the only day I was free to go and get his surprise Valentine's gift. We do NOT do Valentine's up big with gifts and stuff EVER. We always get each other cards, the kids some small goodies, and Will always gets me and Liesl flowers. That's usually IT. But Will has been talking nonchalantly about this Sous Vide meat cooker for over a month, and I just really wanted to get it for him. He's a phenomenal cook and never buys anything for himself, so he more than deserved it! So thus began the wild good chase to find one. The specific one he wanted wasn't on Amazon, wasn't at the Target 20 miles away that said they had it, so that afternoon Elias and I headed into Dallas. Liesl went to a friend's house after gymnastics, so Elias and I ended up having a fun little day date together at the mall.

Lunch at La Madeleine the day before Valentine's Day calls for a linzer cookie!

This girl and her love of lipstick is still going strong

We also made Valentine's Day rice crispy treats Wednesday night because why not?!

I went ahead and gave Will his gift when he got home that night. I knew he would want to use it the next evening on our steaks!

Thursday was a fun day! The kids loved their goodies, then they all went to school and got MORE goodies. I loved my flowers and my students spoiled me with goodies too! Liam was supposed to have baseball practice, but I didn't realize it was canceled until we were in the car headed to the ball fields. Oops. So we detoured to the park to play! Will cooked us the most delicious steaks, and while they took forever and we didn't actually sit down to eat our Valentine's dinner until nearly 9pm (us, not the kids) it was well worth the wait!

Aren't these bracelets darling! My sweet friend made them. You can find her on IG @meetvirginiasue

Snagged my galentine and one of my valentine's at the park for a picture!

Friday we were up and at 'em early for a little road trip! The kids had Friday and Monday off school for a bad weather day and President's Day so the four day weekend was our chance to escape for some adult time. My parents stayed the weekend at our house with the kids which they loved, and Will and I headed north to Oklahoma!

I've been wanting to check out Pioneer Woman' restaurant for forever and her family lodge that she films her Food Network show at was open for visitors as well! The drive was about 5 hours but went surprisingly quick because we binged The Cold Podcast the entire drive there and back (and in between). It was creepy and sad and crazy but good!

We spent Friday and Saturday eating as many meals at Ree's restaurant The Mercantile as we could, did some touring and souvenir shopping. I wish we could have wandered about the downtown area a little more but it was just too cold. It actually snowed the morning we drove up but we never saw any of it. Just freezing rain! Totally worth it though. On Sunday we took our time driving home, driving down historic route 66 most of the way and stopping in Oklahoma City to see the memorial from the Oklahoma City bombing. We made it home around 4 and promised the kids a sleepover because #noschool! It was a quick but fun little getaway with my man!

Also, all I have is video, but we came home to my mom having taught Liesl how to tie shoes! She was so proud of herself and so are we!!
