A Few Firsts.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Liam had a few new firsts.

His first picnic at the park!

{basking in the sun}

His first time at the pool!

{he slept roughly 90% of the time we were there}

{not a fan. yet.}

His first bath in the actual tub!

We removed the newborn sling out of his bathtub and he sat in the actual tub part. He is such a big boy!

{my benjamin button baby}

Yay for new firsts!

Two Months.

Liam Briggs, you are two months old!

What have you been up to???

You are wearing size 1 diapers and most of your newborn clothes are too small now. A few brands still fit. However, your 0-3 month clothes are still pretty baggy! Mama had to do some strategic tucking to get your onesie to look right in most of these pictures :)

You have been sleeping through the night since you were 5 weeks old! I don't know how or why but Daddy and I sure do appreciate it! You usually go to bed between 9 and 10 and wake up between 5 and 7. If it's in the 5 o'clock hour I can usually get you to go back to sleep after your feeding for at least an hour.

You also take one good 2-3 hour nap somewhere between 11 and 4 and one shorter morning nap and one evening nap about 45 min. - 1 hour long.

Mornings are your happiest time and we get lots of cute smiles and coos! You are also pretty happy after your big nap. Basically any time your tummy is full and you have had some good sleep!

You have an evil side though. When you are hungry you get MAD if your bottle is taking too long or if I'm taking too long getting ready to nurse you. I didn't know something so small could produce a noise so loud! You also get fussy when you're tired - that's always a pretty good sign to us that you're ready for a nap or bed. Sometimes you just fuss when you want to be held, but you're learning to be content on your own if we just leave you in your swing or boppy lounger for a while.

(This picture was right after you spit up ALL over your outfit and you were so tickled about it! While Daddy ran to get the burp cloth, I just had to snap your picture!)

You also like to talk a lot, and you and I will have "conversations" about everything.

You are still on a Mama's Milk diet and eat 4-5 oz. every 3 hours during the day.Usually 6 bottles/feedings a day. When we go back for your next check-up at 4 months, you doctor said we will start talking about adding rice cereal to your diet!

Speaking of your check-up on Thursday, it went well and you are a healthy boy! You weighed in at 10 lbs. 7.5 oz. (15%), you were 22.5in. long (30%), and your head circumference was 39 cm (50%). I was a little worried because your percentiles seemed low to me, but Dr. G assured us you were looking wonderful and definitely thriving! He said breastfed babies tend to be leaner than formula fed babies so they may look lower on the chart, but that anything between 3% and 98% is considered normal. So you're just going to be long and skinny for now! He also commented on your great muscle tone which is the third time we've heard that from different doctors and nurses. Crazy! Can I just add that your Daddy was 10 lbs. 6 oz. and 22 in. at BIRTH. I cannot imagine birthing a newborn the size of my two month old. Oh my.

We can tell you are very strong. You are holding your neck up all the time (for just a few seconds at a time) and you are constantly kicking your little legs and trying to push/crawl your way up Daddy's chest during tummy time.

Will's parents babysat you last night for the first time while Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner and you did great!

You have been staying in the nursery at church and the volunteers just love you!

You found your hands a few weeks ago! Sometimes I will hear a sucking/smacking sound and look at you and you are just going to town on your fist! You have also given yourself a few hickies on your arm :)

You haven't really loved tummy time or lying on your playmat recently. I'm not sure why that changed, but maybe when you can actually reach better for the hanging toys you will go back to liking it.

You LOVE going on walks outside! We go a lot and you either sleep or stare out at everything with your big blue eyes!

You had a complete meltdown in the middle of the mall last week when it was just you and me! I was super embarrassed and had to rush you outside to the courtyard and stuff a bottle in your mouth to calm you down. Oy.

You are still sleeping in our room with us, but I have tried putting you down for naps in your crib during the day as practice before we move you to your own room eventually. It only worked once. You prefer your swing and nap in it most days.

I tried out the Baby Bjorn this past weekend at the Farmer's Market and it was awesome! Daddy has used it before, but I hadn't yet. You fell right asleep!

You had your first MAJOR diaper blowout two weeks ago. You were in your car seat and it got ALL over your clothes, the car seat, and my hand. Um, gross. Thankfully spray and wash works well on car seat material!

Happy 2 Months Baby Boy!

Our Week In iPhone Pics

Once again, this week got away from me. I swear I thought staying at home with a baby would give me more time to blog . HA. Gotta work on that.

FYI: I take an absurd amount of pictures with my iphone. Like I have 1,270 pictures in my photo library right now. Just so you know.

Monday Liam and I went to my parents' for the day and my mom, Liam, and I went to this cute area in the next town to do some shopping.

Ok, so this first picture is not actually from my phone but I wanted to show y'all how cute Main Street is. It has tons of little boutiques, bakeries, etc.

How cuuute is this? And yes the arms go around to the back of the onesie. They didn't have Liam's size or I would have bought it immediately. I may go back.

World's biggest sock monkey anyone?

LOVED this quote! Want that frame. (Ahem, Will.)

We had a little fashion show later at Gymboree. How precious is he in a fedora??

My plate was FINALLY ready!

Unfortunately...do you see what I see?

WRONG. Luckily we had Liam so we popped his little feet out of his footies and started over. The owner felt really bad and is going to try and get it finished quickly.

And this is just because he's so goofy and I love him :)

Tuesday Liam and I went to see my first graders in their choir performance! They we super excited to see us and I always love seeing them. They did such a good job too! I also gave them cd's of our field trip slideshow which they loved.

Tuesday night pretty much everyone got bad storms including us. We actually sat outside on the driveway and watched a really cool lightening show, but then we headed in to ride out the torrential rain, hail, and winds. Our tornado sirens went off so we stocked the bathroom with supplies (diaper bag, bottled water, flashlights) but we never had to get in. It all passed fairly quickly for us.

Freaky clouds!

Wednesday was our anniversary! Did you know the three year anniversary is the leather anniversary? Neither did I. But Will did :)

EEEEEK! I may have screamed just a little!

I was the slacker spouse this year who waited until the day of to get Will's gift. I'm blaming the baby :) But once I found out it was the leather anniversary his gift was easy so Liam and I headed into Dallas and got daddy a pretty new wallet! He loves it!

Wednesday night we went out for a celebratory dinner at Primo's on the lake. It was so nice outside so we sat on the deck overlooking the water.

Liam wore a hat and shorts for the first time! I got his hat and onesie from Gymboree that afternoon. They are having a Memorial Day sale this weekend and everything in their stores is $12.99 or less! I got a few cute outfits for Liam that were regularly $33 but we one sale for $12! I couldn't believe it!

Liam and Daddy outside Primo's. He looks like Steve Urkel in his high waisted shorts, ha!

Will: "Does Liam want a tortilla chip?"

Liam: "No thanks, Dad. That would take far too long to gum. Maybe when I get some teeth."

Thursday was the dreaded doctor's appointment. I was super excited to see how Liam was doing, but absolutely terrified for him to get his shots! I'll give all the stats on his two month post tomorrow, but I can say that we survived the shots and he was so brave! I took my friend Maggie's advice and had a bottle ready to give him right after. The nurse was wonderful and gave him all three shots in about 5 seconds so by the time he registered what was happening and began to cry she was almost done. Then I scooped him right up and stuck a bottle in his mouth and he was just fine!

This is him in the car right after. He was so happy and smiley!

Then he passed out like I suspected he would.

THEN....

The doctor warned us he might be a little sore and one of his legs might get red around the shot injection. Oh my goodness, his poor little thigh swelled up and got SO red! He woke up crying and pretty much cried the rest of the day. It was not fun for anyone. He couldn't sleep because he kept kicking his legs and it would hurt, and when he did finally pass out, he would even let out little whimpers in his sleep. We gave him Tylenol throughout the day and put a cool compress on his leg like the nurse suggested. He was so miserable I just held him most of the day.

Thankfully he slept through the night and woke up Friday morning feeling much better! We gave him some more Tylenol just to be safe, but he was happy and playful all day. I'm so glad that it is behind us and we don't have to have anymore shots until 4 months!

Will ended up taking Friday off so we are having ourselves a nice little stay-cation this long weekend.

Happy Memorial Day friends!

Wedding ABC's

In honor of our 3rd anniversary, I just had to copy Jamie and do this fun ABC post all about our wedding!

Our wedding ABC's:

Attending:
We had about 250 family and friends

Bridesmaids:
I had 1 Maid of Honor and 7 Bridesmaids. All were friends from college, plus Will's sister, plus my bestie from high school.

Catering:
We just went with the company our venue used, and what I ate was really good! We had a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres and then a buffet dinner with different dishes...the one thing I had and loved was the mac-n-cheese martini buffet. YUM!

Our cakes were from a local bakery where we live and they were so delicious!

Dress:
I had two dresses. I wore my mom's dress for the ceremony and a new dress for the reception. I loved both!

My mom's dress

Reception dress

Engagement:
Will proposed on Easter in 2007. I was expecting an engagement soon, but I was not expecting it then! He did good :)

From our engagement session.

Flowers:
My colors were orange/green/brown so we used a lot of orange roses and green hydrangeas, orchids, and lily of the valleys for the centerpieces and my cake. It was very spring-y!

Groomsmen:
Will also had 1 Best Man and 7 Groomsmen. All were fraternity brothers, my brother, and one friend from high school. We are so alike :)

Honeymoon:
We went to Petit St. Vincent which is a private island in the Caribbean. It.was.amazing. I can't wait to go back!

Invitations:
I can't believe I don't have a picture of these but they were very simple and cute. Made from weddingpaperdivas.com

Justice of the Peace:
My old youth pastor moved to a church in east Texas and drove all the way to Dallas to conduct our wedding!

This is one of my favorite pictures - Will forgot his lines and me and Marty are both looking at him like, "Hello??!!"

Keepsakes:
My grandmother made my garter and the ring bearer pillow using lace from parts of my mom's wedding dress we altered (think super 80's sleeves) so I plan to keep those and pass them down to my daughter someday. And of course she could wear either of the dresses again!

I don't have a close-up of the pillow or garter, boo!

For the guests, they left with boxes of chocolates

Ladies Night:
My bachelorette party was tons of fun thanks to my awesome girlfriends!

Music:
For the ceremony we had a string trio playing traditional wedding music. For the reception we had a guy who everyone that went to Baylor calls "Piano Man" come play at our wedding with his assistant. He can play ANY song on the piano (classic rock, rap, love songs, ANYTHING) and he has a great voice. We still get compliments on our wedding music from friends.

Newlyweds:
I guess we're not really considered newlyweds anymore...so sad :(

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue:
Old and borrowed was my mom's dress, my grandmother attached a blue brooch to my garter that my other grandmother gave my mom on her wedding day, and my reception dress was brand new!

Photography:
Our photographer was amazing! She did a great job and I love looking through our wedding album. Looking back I kind of wish we had hired a videographer as well, but I prefer pictures over video any day.

Question Popping:
Easter morning in a giant Easter egg!

Reception:
Our reception was an indoor/outdoor setting at an old house at a park in the middle of Dallas. It was gorgeous. Tony Romo is getting married there soon! Arlington Hall at Lee Park.

Shoes:
Simple David Charles shoes from Nordstrom.

Trash the Dress:
I have not and will not. I love my dress too much for that.

Unique:
Probably that I wore my mother's dress. And maybe also that we saw each other before the ceremony so I could get some pictures with my second dress too.

Vows:
Traditional, Methodist vows.

Wedding Woes:
I woke up at 5am the morning of our wedding and it was POURING at my parents' house. With an outside ceremony, you can only imagine how upset I was. I called Will (yep, at 5am) who was staying at our apartment which was closer to the venue than my parents' house and he said it was rain free there! I was SO thankful!

X-Rated:
?????

Young Kids:
Two of my cousins were the flower girl and ring bearer and they were so adorable!

Jenny

Jack

I also had some other little girl cousins be my "house party" and they passed out programs.

Zzzz:
We partied all night then got up early for our flight out to PSV. We should have been exhausted but we were so excited to be married sleep deprivation was not an issue!

I wanna get married again! But have the same groom of course :)
