Happy Halloween everyone! So I wasn't going to get to Toula a Halloween costume this year because we're not doing anything that requires costume BUT I saw this at Target this morning and I just HAD to get it for my little punkin'! Enjoy!

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner

This weekend was exhausting but fun! Saturday was Will and I's five month anniversary! We both are stunned five months have flown by, I look at pics from the wedding day and it seems like last weekend! Although the honeymoon seems like years ago and I think we should go on another one NOW! :) I love my Puffin-boo (Girls Next Door, anyone?) more everyday and am so lucky to be his wifey...we tried to make this anniversary special since next month's falls the day before Thanksgiving so we probably wont celebrate the half-way mark much.

Friday night wasn't too busy...we met my friend Nat for drinks after work/school and the three of us came back to me and Will's apt for dinner and a scary movie marathon! We watched Halloween -not scary but a classic fave of mine! -and The Omen - haaaate that movie! She brought her Shiz Tzu Bear...or Sushi...or Sushi Moushi Woushi Loushi Toushi as she so affectionately calls him! Whatever you want to call him, he and Toula became instant BFFs and spent the evening chasing each other around the couch. It was a successful first doggie play date!
Saturday Will and I packed up the pup and headed for my parents house to dog sit their four dogs for the night. We were going to go to the Kimball Museum for the Impressionist exhibit that afternoon but we arrived at three to find the line snaking around the building with over an hour wait! Since the museum closed at five we figured that wouldn't be enough time to adequately view the show so we left :( with high hopes for Sunday. Instead we wandered around Town Square in Southlake (aka HEAVEN) and I got a new purse at this super cute new boutique, Charming Charlie. That evening we went out to dinner and then carved a pumpkin with my brother and his girlfriend Melinda. Theirs turned out better but in my defense they used a stencil and we freehanded that gourd! Judge for yourself....

Nate and Melinda with their stencil...

I love Pumkin guts!

...and B

Sunday we finally made it to the exhibit! Arriving half an hour early we were near the front of the line only to have the museum guy come tell us the line actually starts on the other side of the museum. So we sprinted to the other side and luckily only had to wait about 15 minutes! The exhibit was amazing to say the least...Manet, Monet, Van Gogh, Degas, Pissaro, Toulouse-Lautrec among others. Your basic Christmas morning for Art History majors like myself :)

Couldn't take pictures inside the exhibit....LAME

Right after the exhibit, we headed up i-35 to Whitesboro, Texas for a viewing for Will's grandmother's late cousin. It was more a formality for us since we didn't really now anyone except his grandmother and some immediate family but we were glad to go support his family. On the way we stopped at Babe's chicken...it was an experience. The food is southern home cookin' and all served family style so we ordered chicken tenders and we were brought about 30 tenders, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, gravy, and biscuits! Thank God for doggie bags! The restaurant itself was a sight to see...adorned on the walls were stuffed "animals" - bobcats, foxes, etc. signs that read "Saddle your hoss before cussin' the boss" and about fifty stuffed and fake chickens everywhere! It was the epitome of a small town restaurant even came with a mechanical horse and old men on a bench out front! I didn't want to seem like too much of a city slicker but I snuck in a few pics as we drove away! Oh, and as a tribute to small town livin, we had to stop by the resident Dairy Queen on the drive home!

winner winner chicken dinner!

covert shot of the restaurant, there's a big tractor out front if you look closely

DQ makes me happy :)

thumbs up for soft serve!

These next few weekends are going to be equally as busy but we're lovin' every minute of it!

ROCK THE VOTE!

Yesterday my mom and I voted! We are so American! Will voted too but he didn't get the cool stickers that we got :) If you haven't yet....get out there and ROCK THE VOTE!

In other news, there isn't much news. This weekend was fun but more casual and lowkey than others. Friday night Will and I discovered a great new Italian restaurant in Dallas called Momo's Pasta. We spent two hours drinking wine, listening to an old man play the acordian and sing in Italian, and just enjoyed each other's company. Bliss.

Saturday we went out to Rockwall because Will's younger sister, Jennifer, came in for fall break. We spent the afternoon lazing around the house and playing softball outside -- Will needed to work on his game for the upcoming Merrill Lynch softball tournament! Later we all ate an amazing home cooked meal and made s'mores in their fire pit!

Sunday was the laziest day of all...Cowboy's game (so sad...) and laundry ruled the day.

This week is moving at the same slow pace. Will's mom is away at camp for the week with her 5th graders so we are meeting his dad for dinner Wednesday night. I got the third book in my series this weekend and plan on starting it tonight :) If you like Pride and Prejudice you will LOVE Rebecca Ann Collins' follow up series, The Pemberly Chronicles. She picks up where Jane Austen left off, a "what happens next" in the lives of the Bennett girls and their families. They are addicting!

"I voted early" :)

This weekend should be fun...too bad it's only Tues...

until then!

Bring on the Corndogs...

Geat weekend!
Friday Will headed down i35 to Waco for a "guys weekend" and I headed to Southlake to spend the weekend with my parents. Yes I know I'm 22, but I still don't like sleeping in a house alone, I have no shame. I had a lot of fun with the 'rents; mom and I went shopping all day Friday and Saturday for my first Christmas decorations! I may or may not have volunteered Will and I's place for this years Christmas Eve festivities....I'm a sucker for a theme party! We got some great stuff and ALL of it was on sale :) Saturday night my whole fam (mom, dad, Nate, Melinda) went to another Greek food festival because I didn't get my fill of baklava at the last one. We had a blast and the dancing was much more high energy -- Greek techno, oh yea!

Will had a good time as well with his boys, lots of poker, beer and guy movies. We had some slight miscommunication problems (about who was where...at what hour...and under what influence) but it came and went as they always do :) We agreed after that a whole weekend is far too long to be apart!

Sunday was the best day because it was FAIR DAY! Will drove back up Sunday afternoon and as soon as he arrived, we took off with my whole fam. We spent seven glorious hours wandering the various pavillions, ate tons of deliciously fattening food, and even rode a few rides. One of which I will NEVER ride again..die, Viper, DIE! Will and I sat in the new Prius in one of the car pavillions and we loved it! We are seriously considering replacing my SUV with one when we can afford it. Although that will probably not be for a while since we are currently living car-payment free and will both try and suck every last mile out of cars as we can before we move on.

Reunion!

Wednesday was the best day! I got a suprise phone call from my good friend Rosalind telling me she was in town! She is going to graduate school in Tn and this week is her fall break. She is from Louisiana but made a detour through Texas to visit her siblings and friends and I'm SO GLAD she did! Her sis, my other good friend Anne Elise, drove up from Waco and a big group of us went to eat at Campisi's. We stayed there for over two and half hours eating and chatting it up -- it made my whole week! I miss those two sooo much! Me and Natty are hoping to make it to Tennesse sometime in November if those dang plane ticket prices would go down...

We of course took tons of pics!

Whole group!

Overdue...

This post is going to be a jumble of overdue events. My slacking is NOT going to become permanent thing...I've just been subbing nearly everyday and have been exhausted when I get home and don't have the energy to write, upload pics, etc. I'm starting to get used to the new routine -- although I must admit, I sometimes miss my me time :) -- so I will be more punctional with my posting soon! Will and I have been having a ton of fun with some work thrown in the mix...like I said I sub almost everyday now and I am loving it! I've done every type of school (elem, middle, and high) and I've fun at all of them but the cute little munchkins at the elemetary schools definitely make the day go by faster!

Last, last Saturday night Will took me to my very first hockey game! His boss game him free tickets for helping him out at the office and the seats were AMAZING. 8th row right next to the penalty box! His friend Brian also got two tickets so we enjoyed part of the game with him and his buddy as well. Just me and the boys!

Woo GO STARS!

Can you feel the heat??

Last Friday, after the bull incident, Will, my parents, and I went up the Southlake Town Square for their Oktoberfest which ended up being a children's carnival with one German food stand...haha gotta love Southlake, very kid oriented! So we ditched that and went to the high school football game (I loooooove high school football!) and we won 42 ro 24! We left the game a little early to make it to the movies, My mom and I saw Nights in Rodanthe (AMAZING, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!) and Will and my dad saw Appaloosa (which they also highly recommend!) We didn't get out of our movies until after midnight so we crashed at my parents house. Good time good times!

Saturday I attended a bridal shower for my girlfriend Lindsay. She went to Baylor and was a Chi-O with me and is the sweetest little bride to be! She is from Hawaii and was only in Dallas for the week visiting her hubby to be so it was a treat to spend an afternoon with her and some other fellow chi-o's and friends! Plus, I love anything wedding related!

Lyndsey and Lindsay!

The whole gang with the blushing bride!

That night we also had a girls night out! Me and a few of my favorite girlies went out on the town -- no boys allowed! It was so fun...but I was texting my hunny throughout the night :)

Rachel, Lynds, Natty, and Haley at Mi Cocina

I'll be back...sooner than later!

holy cow... (or bull)

I decided to take the day off from subbing today and spend the day with my mom in Southlake. I figured we would hang out, bake cookies, maybe shop...little did I know she had already had a very eventful morning which she filled me in on when I arrived. A BULL got loose and was roaming around our street since at least 6 oclock this morning! My dad went outside this morning and it was standing in our front yard! We talked to the neighbors and this is the story of the longhorn's journey we pieced together....

He escaped from his pasture (still don't know where, when or who's) sometime last night/early morning and made his way up to the end of our street which is a dead end. Our neighbors up there have a small pasture with three horses. He couldn't get in their pen so he made himself comfortable right outside and fell asleep. Our neighbor's husband discovered him early this morning and tried to corral him while they waited for animal control. Our street is about one block from the highway so they didn't want him to go too far. Well he got spooked, charged at them, and they gave up! He made his way through almost everyone's lawn until finally the city police, county sherriff, and animal control all came to barricade him on our street. They had a trailor and tried using horses to herd him inside, police sirens to spook him inside, everything! Finally he made his way back up to the original neighbor's house, JUMPED the fence to the pasture and from there animal control had no choice but to tranquilize him.

That's when I showed up. My mom and I took her camera and made our way up the street to watch the excitment. The bull was awake but groggy and they could NOT get him into the trailor. He was lying next to it and they had ropes around him trying to pull him in. They couldn't get him so they tied the ropes to a truck and tried to drag him in. That didn't work either. Finally one of the cops TASERED the poor bull and guess what...he didn't even flinch! We left and eventually they got him up around 2pm and in the trailor.

It was definitely not how we had planned to spend our morning/afternoon but exciting nonetheless! We got some great pics too!

after the tranquilizer...groggy and would NOT get up!

"livestock enforcement" haha

Happy Friday!
