Indoor/Outdoor Snow Day & A Move Update!

We have had snow ice days the last two days and we might have a *real* snow day tomorrow! Will's office has been closed too so it's been so nice having all this extra time with him!

Yesterday we bundled the kids up for some outdoor sledding. We don't have a sled (duh, why would we?!) but Will was able to fashion together a sled-like apparatus using a cookie sheet, amazon box, and some rope! The kids LOVED it!

Liesl and I came in after about 30 minutes, but Liam and Will stayed out until they were just about popsicles!

After all the outdoor fun, we settled in for some indoor fun with Netflix. The kids enjoyed Daniel Tiger's "Snowflake Day" while they snacked on some nice warm food!

In other news, today was supposed to be the day we closed on our new house, but it has been delayed due to the weather. We are now closing this Friday which is still fine because we have the movers scheduled for Saturday! We are supposed to get more snow Friday morning so I know things are still subject to change, but we are staying positive that Friday is the day! We are so ready!

And just in time - Netflix is releasing season three of House of Cards THIS FRIDAY! Perfect timing! I'm not a huge fan of the show but my husband really is - think I can keep adding to his honey-do list once we're in the house as long as I keep the episodes going? Maybe he won't notice! :)

A Day In The Life! Thursday - A School Day

Today was a fairly normal day except that Will was out of town so our evening was much different than the standard weeknight.

Set my alarm for 7:30am. I typically try to wake up around 6:00-6:30am to have some alone time before the kids wake up, but with Will being out of town and our schedule really open this week, I slept in!

Liesl however woke up at 7:20am so I got up to get her. Liam followed right after and was up by 7:30. Liam loves to come straight into the living room and snuggle up with a blanket on the couch. He gets really hot when he sleeps and usually ends up sleeping sans clothing at night and is always freezing in the morning! But why put your pi's back on when you can curl up in a soft throw? I get it!

7:30-8:00am
Liesl was enjoying chilling on the couch too, so I let them eat their breakfast (bananas, blueberry waffles, and milk) there while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I ate my breakfast with them (grapefruit) while browsing some blogs and then made Liam's lunch for school.

8:00-9:00am
Got the three of us ready for the day. It was a school day for Liam and I had some errands to run with Liesl. We are moving in 4 days so I am in full on decorating mode!

9:00am-12:00pm
Dropped Liam off at school and headed out to HomeGoods with Liesl. My decorator told me about a better/bigger one than the one in our town so we drove a ways out to that one. I don't have any pictures to document because Liesl had my phone most of the time. Unless you want to see 7 videos of my legs walking, which I assure you, you don't!

My favorite HG find! Excited to put this in our very white kitchen!

12:00-1:00pm
Made it home in time for Liesl's nap (she usually naps from 12-2pm on Liam's school days), but she fell asleep in the car and ruined her nap. Boo. Instead I made us lunch and we watched an old episode of Parenthood on Netflix. We also got to talk to Will for a few minutes while he had a short break during his conference, and I chatted with my mom about some possible decor pieces for both our houses.

Miss Liesl's lunch

1:00-2:00pm
Since she wasn't going back to sleep, I loaded Liesl back up in the car and we headed to Hobby Lobby. Bought nothing that I came looking for but left with some goodies for the kid's rooms nonetheless!

So...I have a thing for letters!

2:00-3:00pm
Liam's school isn't out until 2:30 but since we were done with errands, we snagged him a little early. He had just woken up from a nap and was happy to see us! We made a stop by Sonic after school for a caffeine fix for me and a milkshake fix for the littles. I love that Liam doesn't think it's gross yet to share drinks with Liesl, and I love Sonic happy hour! Then we headed to the new house to check out the progress on the touch-ups and inspection repairs that need to be done before we close. Surprisingly this was the first time I stopped by this week! There were painters at the house and overall things were looking pretty good!

Liesl in her future room!

Liam (and Liesl) in his future room!

3:00-4:30pm
I honestly am not sure where this hour and a half went. All that really got done was my putting away some clean laundry and starting a new load. There was also some general pick-up of the house since Will gets home (today!) and a couple of dance parties. The kids are pretty good about playing independently and/or together while I get household chores done, but when they hear music playing on my laptop they always end up wherever I am! I kind of love it :)

4:30-5:30pm
Liesl went down for a short nap which was great because we were going out to dinner and I didn't want her to be a grump. Liam and I took this hour to chill on the couch with Sheriff Callie. And then he built a pillow tower with his chair on top and proceeded to climb up and slide down over and over again. He had a blast and I got to relax - win, win!

5:30pm
Woke up Liesl and quickly got us ready to meet friends for dinner!

5:45-7:00pm
You know what's better than just having girlfriends? Having girlfriends whose husband's also travel. Especially when it's the same week! We had planned to go to one friend's house for dinner, but her poor baby girl got an ear infection and they had to cancel. Plan B ended up being McDonald's for dinner and girl talk in the play-place. Works for me!

So the plan after dinner was to go home and get everyone ready for bed. Then I was going to watch Scandal and curl into bed myself. INSTEAD one of my girlfriends told me about an awesome new HomeGoods (again, bigger and better than our local one) that was way closer than the one I drove out to earlier in the day. Well I could have waited until today to go, but when I get something in my head, I have to do it! And since I knew we didn't have to be up early for anything today and Will was gone - why not??! So I loaded up the kids and to HomeGoods we went!

7:00-8:45pm
HomeGoods! The kids were actually really well behaved and turns out, no one shops that late in the evening so we had the store almost to ourselves! I found some cute stuff for the house and the kids even got some floam out of the deal. Do y'all remember that stuff? All in all, I'd say the late night trip was worth it. Even when I took a wrong turn on the way home and we ended up getting home like 20 minutes later than we should have.

8:45pm
I got the kids ready for bed and put Liesl down immediately She's so easy to put down right now - all the requires is some warm jammies, to turn on her sound machine herself, a song (always either Jesus Loves Me or I Love You A Bushel And A Peck) and some quick snuggles, and her blanket, doll, and lamby.

9:00pm
I put Liam down in our bed. He always sleeps with me when Will is out of town (who are we kidding, he's been sleeping with us when Will is IN town too) so he got to hang out in bed with some cartoons for a bit. Will called and we both talked to him. Then I came in and changed the TV to Modern Family. Liam promptly fell asleep and I started working on this!

- - - - - -

This was a pretty typical "school" day for us - Liam has school two days a week so usually one day is an at-home day where Liesl and I just play and I take care of home stuff and the other is an errand day. Next fall Liesl is going to start preschool with Liam so I will have two days alone to myself. It's going to be nice to hopefully use that time wisely (and maybe even consistently be caught up with laundry) but I'm sure going to miss our girl days. I'll have them back though the next year when Liam starts Kindergarten (inserts sobs). I can't think that far ahead.

I love ours days right now just as they are! Especially the days I have both my babies homes with me - which is today! Hooray for Friday!

A Long and Lovely Weekend!

*Long-winded post warning!*

We had an extra long weekend thanks to Will being off Friday and then again on Monday for President's Day - it was glorious!

Fridy was an intense day of going, going, going! First up was a Valentine's playdate with friends. We picked up some donuts on the way and couldn't resist come cute heart-shaped ones!

My blurry, failed attempt at a group shot. The kids had a blast playing and exchanging Valentine's though. After the playdate, my designer, Tracey, and I went out to lunch with our kiddos to discuss her plans for our living room! Will had gone into the office for a few hours and then met up with us at our design meeting. We LOVE what Tracey came up with and I can't wait to show off the finished product! If you're local, you need to follow her Facebook page!

Immediately after lunch we met my parents at our new house because my dad was doing our home inspection! We hung out at the house for a bit and then headed home with my mom in tow for nap time. Will stayed home with the kids while my mom and I ran up to a boutique I'd been wanting to check out. Traffic was crazy and this is when our evening got a little hectic!

My mom and I rushed home (as rushed as we could during 5 o'clock traffic) and as soon as we pulled in the driveway, she hopped out and Will hopped in. We picked up food for some friends who just had a baby and went to deliver it. Normally I just go alone, but they bought a gorgeous old house in town and completely gutted it and I wanted Will to see. We all visited for awhile, and before I knew it, it was after 6. We were supposed to drop the kids off at our church at 6 for our date night! We rushed home again, grabbed Liam, and took him up to the church. My mom and dad ended up staying at our house to watch Liesl because she woke up really fussy from her nap. Her thumb has been living in her mouth so I'm pretty sure she's getting another molar, poor girl. So at this point, Liam was at church playing with friends, my parents were watching Liesl at home, and we were supposed to be going out to dinner. I felt bad for my parents staying, but they were adamant about us getting a night out so we picked them up some dinner after dropping off Liam. I'm really thankful for our family and church who make such an effort for us to have a date night together!

Now the only problem was, we didn't have anything planned to do! Will had called a few places earlier in the day and everything was booked. We ended up going to this little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant where we were the only table and then to La Madeleine for dessert. It was perfect! It was quiet and private and we actually got to talk to each other for two straight hours with no interruptions! We stopped at the grocery store for Valentine's balloons for the kids before picking up Liam, and that was the end to our crazy Friday!

Saturday morning we woke up slow and I snuck out to set up the kid's table for Valentine's.

We got the kids a few small treats and some new books. And their robes, of course, that I adore!

This was Liam's face right before he proclaimed this to be "the best day ever!" I'm pretty sure the balloons get the credit for that!

This picture of Liesl cracks me up. She got some new necklaces from my parent's the day before and insisted she wear one with her new robe. Then she scarfed powder sugar donuts and made herself at home with the remote. I'm pretty sure she's watching HGTV here, ha!

That was pretty much the end of Valentine's for us! My parents had given the kids some treats on Friday and Will's parents gave the kids some on Saturday as well. I actually spent most of the day in Dallas with Tracey shopping for furniture. We found some great pieces! When I got home I took a much needed Valentine's nap, Will's mom came over for a bit to visit, and Will grilled us up a delicious dinner!

On Sunday the kids were actually being really cooperative for a Sunday morning picture! We went to church and then hit up Costco for groceries.

After naps, it was time to party! One of my very best friends from college has the sweetest little boy who just turned ONE!

The party was at a park which the kids loved!

The sweet birthday boy!

He pushed his present ALL over the park!

I went a little picture crazy this weekend because I finally have a memory card to take real pictures with. I lost mine sometime after Christmas so I haven't taken anything other than phone pictures in nearly two months!

On Monday Liam woke up with a random fever so we hunkered down for the most of the day. Will went to the final walk-through for our house which went well, and we will have one more truly final walk-through next Monday, the day before we close! 7 days and counting! Today Liam woke up cool as a cucumber and acting fine, but he's missing school and it's freezing out, so it looks like another indoor day for us!

Now, to make this already ridiculously long post just a little longer - a Valentine's flashback!
