Tweaking

You know when you say you're done with something or you think you're done with something, but you're actually not?

Well, that was the case with Liam's nursery. After my last baby shower and a week at home, the nursery got some minor tweaking here and there. And I have to say I love it even more now!

Will's parents found this little truck he used to play with as a kid and cleaned it up for Liam!

Our changing pad came in, a definite necessity. Thanks Amy!

We did end up getting a side table which will eventually house a lamp, but I haven't found one I like yet so Mr. Elephant Humidifier is there for now.

After contacting just about every PB Kids in the country, my mom tracked down the chair I loved! I guess grandmother's really will do anything for their grand-babies, thanks mom =) She also got us the shadow box that will eventually display Liam's birth announcement, hospital bracelet, and other important baby keepsakes.

Nursery Reveal!

Minus some small items like our changing pad and maybe an accent table, Liam's nursery is complete! I am so happy with the way it turned out. I can't wait to spend many days (and nights) in this room!

They're Here!!

I've been waiting all week for this package to show up on our doorstep!

The nursery curtains came in and they match perfectly! It's been a bit of a gamble because we've bought pieces from three different places (PB kids, Serena & Lily, and Rest. Hardware) so we keep crossing our fingers every time hoping they work!

The creases still need to fall but I LOVE how they look!

It feels really good to say we are finished getting all the big pieces! All that's left are some shelves and wall decor. It's almost ready!

AND baby's first monogram!

Although it won't be the last if my mother has anything to do with it =)

27 Weeks!

27 Weeks!

How Far Along: 27 weeks down...13 weeks to go!

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a head of cauliflower.

Liam is 2+ lbs and around 15 inches long! My uterus on the other hand is the size of a basketball. Wow.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +14. It's been kind of a stressful week and I ended up losing a few pounds, but I'm working on gaining them back.

Maternity Clothes: A mix of regular and maternity.

Gender: Boy!

Movement: All the time and getting stronger! AND Will finally got to see Liam move from the outside! I see it all the time, but he had never been around it until this past weekend. I'm also starting to feel him much higher up and off to the side of my stomach rather than just along the middle. Specifically my right side right below/on top of my lungs. It doesn't always feel pleasant, but it still makes me happy!

Sleep: Blah.

What I miss: Sleep.

Cravings: Fruit and peanut butter!

Symptoms: Lower back pain and braxton-hicks contractions like crazy. They are my least two favorite things about pregnancy thus far.

Best Moment This Week: Ringing in 2011 with hubs and toasting our apple cider to all the exciting things that are going to happen this year (all of which pretty much revolve around Liam).

Milestones: According to TheBump.com this is the first week in my third trimester, but according to What To Expect, that happens next week. I'm going with The Bump's math so yay me! I'm in the home stretch! Also, Liam's lungs are going through some major developments, and he can now practice inhaling and exhaling! And his hair is starting to turn whatever color it's going to be - it's been white until now.

So I found out that I do have GD. I went to see a specialist about it today because I'm now considered a "high risk" pregnancy. I was very upset and stressed about it at first, but after talking with her I realized I actually got the better end of the deal. Both sides of my family have a history of diabetes, so apparently I was doubly at risk for it and didn't even know it. She said there was nothing I could have done to prevent it and nothing I can do to make it go away. It is what it is. Thanks fam.

However, because I don't have any of the other risks (being overweight, over 25, of certain ethnicities) the only way I have to "control" it is through my diet. So no insulin shots, woohoo! And oddly enough, my "diet" is to actually eat more than I currently am. I gave her some examples of my daily meals I had written down and she was really happy with my choices, but said I have to eat more to keep my blood sugar even all day long. So I have to keep eating the foods I'm already eating, just 6 times a day instead of 3. I think I can handle that.

AND the best part...now that I'm high risk, I have to have doctor's appointments and ultrasounds every two weeks so I will get to see my baby a lot more! I was only going to get one more ultrasound and now I get probably 4 more or so! I'm totally okay with that. =)

So for all you pregos out there, it's not as bad as it seems as long as you're already healthy. Sometimes it just happens. I wouldn't choose it, but if it gives me a healthy baby boy at the end then I'm all for it!

Now, onto Liam's closet! We didn't add much, but we finally took out all the bags of "stuff" and organized it in these cute baskets we found at TJ Maxx. And I arranged all of his clothes in size order and want to order these cuties to divide them!

Our new baskets! We got four of them in two different sizes. Right now this one has mostly bath stuff in it and assorted shower gifts, but it will probably become the shoe and/or toy basket eventually.

All of his cute clothes! The top baskets have extra crib sheets and blankets in them.

The right side of the closet...another basket with some swaddling blankets and little hooded towel inside, baskets for his foldable clothes and other misc. items, and some random baby items we don't know where to put yet!

And just for fun, a little sneak peek of Liam's crib with the new bedding! I know I need to work on my bow tying skills. Good thing we're having a boy, ha!

Nursery Update

We got Liam's bedding this weekend! We had planned on ordering it but happened to pop into PB Kids over the weekend and there it was. We weren't sure if they would have it because it's on sale, but we got lucky!

We got the crib skirt, bumper, and it came with a plain white sheet. Plain white = BORING. We knew since the bedding was on the simpler side, we wanted to get some fun sheets to add color and pattern. Yesterday we ordered these three from Serena & Lily.

Once Will is on vacation later this week we are going to go buy the crib mattress and hopefully put it all together if the sheets come in! Moms out there - I know I need to wash everything before we put it on; do I wash it all with Dreft? The sheets only or the bumper and skirt too?

I really like the PB curtains in the nursery picture above, but of course they no longer have them in blue. I may end up ordering some from Land of Nod which are similar, or picking out some fabric and having my mom make them. Serena & Lily sell their fabric by the yard so I could get some from them. I'm torn between these two.

Now onto decor!

I love, love, love this birth announcement print from this etsy shop, but of course we cannot order that until after Liam is here. I also want to hang a bunch of newborn pictures once those are taken, so his walls might be a little bare until after his arrival.

I am in love with this little chair from PB Kids. I think it would be so cute to take Liam's weekly/monthly pictures in and watch him grow into it. It is also SUPER soft but can't be monogrammed because of the sherpa slipcover. Sad. But probably better because then we can use it for future children!

I've also recently become obsessed with Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. I didn't even know they had a baby section until my friend from work was telling me about it. They have the sweetest little baby stuff!

This would match his nursery colors perfectly, and what baby doesn't need a little rocker??

And I know this isn't decor, but Liam seriously needs this little outfit to wear at the hospital!

Hopefully the next pictures I post will be of his actual room! We'll see!

Will can now add these to the list of things he's great at...

installing beadboard and assembling baby cribs!

Will spent allll weekend cooped up in Liam's nursery getting the walls painted. He even encouraged my shopping trips because it got me out of the house and away from the fumes. Love him :)

Now we need to order Liam's bedding!

We're going with this from Pottery Barn. It very sweet and simple and currently on sale :)

And possibly these curtains from Land of Nod.

I haven't decided on much else decor wise, obviously I will hang pictures and art of some kind, but I do know I want to display his coming home outfit somehow. I like both of these ideas...

Now I just have to decide on an outfit. And believe me I have already been looking!

A Sneak Peak and Some Fun Finds

Our shopping experience got off to a rough start on Friday, but we eventually managed to buy and/or register for some really cute baby boy clothes! I'll be honest, shopping for a boy is much harder than shopping for a girl. There just flat out aren't as many choices (can you say 1 rack for boys, 3 for girls?! Frustrating!) and the choices are slim because I don't like all the cheesy "I love Boobs" and "It's ruff being this handsome" stuff slathered all over boy clothes. Most of the clothes we registered for are all 6-9 months or 9-12 months because of the season, but I have to say Liam is going to look really cute next winter! Here are some things we did pick up for him this weekend...

Our first stop was Janie & Jack. They have a line of rugby clothes out for boys that just happen to be green and gold! We knew if our baby was a boy that we would have to buy some items for football season next year.

It seems to be a tradition that it rains on homecoming weekend at Baylor. I don't know why, but it always does. Since we are for sure going next year, we had to have little Liam prepared for the weather! And even if it doesn't rain, what future Baylor Bear wouldn't look completely adorable in this raincoat???

And I couldn't resist these little bear shoes. So stinkin' cute.

Moving from bears to monsters, this onsie was on clearance at Target for $2! Adorable.

Liam's first swimsuit!

We found it on clearance at Old Navy. There is not much in the way of spring/summer attire out right now, but when we do find something it's usually super cheap!

We also got our diaper bag for Liam! I love it! It's the perfect size, and the print is boyish for Liam but still girly enough for me to wear. It's a shoulder bag, but it also has straps to turn it into a backpack. Although I'll probably just throw it under the stroller most of the time.

Will practiced walking around with it for a while. He looked like he felt a little awkward with a man-bag haha. We may have to get him something different, we'll see.

We got our stroller!! My parents got it for us and we brought it home yesterday. I have been practicing pushing it around and loading/unloading the car seat. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it is! Now I just need to try it with a baby inside :)

And last but not least, we got the Beaba Babycook and Beaba baby spoons! I have been wanting this set since before I was pregnant, and I'm really excited to use it! There is a cookbook you can buy, but the baby cooker comes with a little booklet full of recipes so I'm just going to use that. And we didn't buy any of the food trays yet because they are kind of expensive, so I think I may be putting those on my Christmas list :)

Beadboard is up! William, my dad, and my brother were working all day yesterday to get it up and today Will is caulking and priming. Then he just has to paint and we can start decorating! I can't wait!
