Spring Break, Part 1

Spring break is over, waaaah! 

While spring break isn't really "spring break" for us since Liam isn't yet in real school; he did have his usual two days off preschool and we had friends in town so we definitely lived up the week more so than normal! 

Monday! Monday started slow with kissy selfies. Naturally. We had friends over and just spent the day relaxing and playing at home. I rented Big Hero 6 for Liam and his friend to watch, but I missed it because I was too busy styling my shelves. We will have to rent it again because I hear it's really good and I'm not sure Liam and his buddy caught more than 30 minutes of the whole thing here and there!

Tuesday! Tuesday was so fun. We started the morning by having our hardware installed! It took two guys four hours, but they did the entire house and it makes such a difference! It's just about ready for some proper "after" photos! Here's a little sneak peak in the kitchen.

Will came home early because we had a large group of friends coming over for dinner, so we spent the afternoon cleaning and prepping for our guests! 

The kids were enjoying the snack platter I had prepared for all the kids pre-party. Liesl kept hogging the tray and Liam was getting so frustrated, but I couldn't help but giggle! She tried to make it up to him by feeding him blueberries, but he wasn't having it. And look at that little pony knot!

One of my best friends, Brettni, and her family drove into town from Mississippi because it was their spring break too, so we got the whole gang together for a fajita fiesta! 

10 adults and 11 kids! So far I've hosted a family birthday, a playdate, and a dinner party. I LOVE welcoming friends and family into our home, and I hope they always feel welcome! 

We had too much fun eating and playing Cards Against Humanity. OH.MY. Some of those cards, y'all! But it was hilarious! 

Wednesday! Wednesday my mom wanted to get the kids for a sleepover, so we decided to meet at the zoo for some fun and then she took the kids from there. Brettni and her family had planned to spend the day visiting old neighbors, but they came down with strep, so her fam joined us for a zoo day!

My sweet Pie!

I'm so glad they got to join us - it was a chilly, but fun day! We left not long after lunch because Liam was ready to go play at Yaya's. She took the kids and my car and headed west, and I headed east back home....ALONE! I came straight home and put on my robe and didn't leave the house the rest of the day. It was fabulous! 

Part 2, tomorrow! And then a weekend recap because it was jam-packed as well! Life surely isn't slowing down anytime soon...and I kind of love it :) 

This & That!

I hate not blogging, but when life gets busy, it's always the first thing to go! Since moving in nearly two weeks ago, we have been unpacking, decorating, and enjoying our new home with friends and family non-stop. It's definitely been a fun busy so I can't complain -- I just need to find time to document it all! 

Last Thursday was another (and hopefully last of the season) snow day! We were up early and out the door to play. 

Little Miss did NOT like the deep snow! 

This was about 5 minutes after we came outside. It took probably 15 to get them ready. Good thing they look cute all bundled up, but then they were ready to take it ALL off and warm up inside!

My favorite part of all the snow days have been all the days we've had Will home with us! His office has been so great about closing for bad weather and clearly Liesl loves the extra snuggles! 

Will also spent the morning hanging our new light fixtures. I LOVE them! 

Then we celebrated by baking brownies of course!

On Friday we went to a birthday party for one of Liam's classmates. The birthday boy's sweet older sister took a liking to Liesl and "babysat" her during the party. It was so nice and Liesl adored her! 

3 and 4 year olds are so funny. Here they were opening presents and Liam was so excited Ethan was opening his present. Each kid was yelling out when their gift was being opened and they would all ooh and aah over it. It was loud but fun! 

After the party was over, it was time for a much needed nap. I was in Liesl's closet putting things away when she woke up, so I caught her sleepy self waking up! 

On Saturday Liesl and I got dressed up to go to my cousin's baby shower. Little lady was more interested in playing with her baby doll then getting ready. I love watching her love on her dollies! 

My chapstick kept her entertained for most of the shower, ha! 

The rest of Saturday was spent at my parent's house watching the Downton Abbey season finale. We didn't have cable for the one day it aired and they never replay them! My mom came to the rescue though and it was a GOOD one. I can't believe we have to wait a year until the next season again! 

Apparently I didn't take anymore pictures the rest of the weekend, but on Sunday we taught Liam's sunday school class, went to church, had lunch with Will's family, and then spent a few hours bringing more items over from the old house. 

That's enough pictures for now, but it's been a busy week so I have a lot more to share tomorrow! 

Weekend Recap: The one where we moved!

We closed and moved into our house over the weekend! Hallelujah! We weren't sure it was going to happen because it had already been pushed back once because of the weather, and we had another crazy "Texas snowstorm" over the weekend, but we made it happen! 

Friday we drove to the title company to close. While there, the snow started coming down like crazy. It took us twice as long to get home as it did to get there in the first place because the bridges were starting to ice over. We watched a car in front of us completely slide across lanes sideways! And then 3 more spin outs after that. We had to wait about two hours from closing to get our keys so the long drive actually killed some time.

We got our keys and headed straight home. We already had a carload of stuff to unpack! 

We drove up to this sight! We didn't let the snow stop us though and made 7 trips to and from houses unloading boxes/dishes/lamps/etc. 

On Saturday our movers had to delay 4 hours because of the weather, so we got started moving more carloads until they showed up. They were great though and had everything moved in about 7 hours! Will's mom was gracious enough to watch the littles all day Friday and Saturday AND she brought us dinner Saturday night when she brought the kids home. 

Confession: I bought this little alligator seesaw for the kids for Christmas. Then I put it in the back storage room (still in it's box) with all our moving boxes and totally forgot about it! I didn't even realize until my mom mentioned it a week later! We decided to use it as a moving gift instead! When the kids came in they immediately jumped on it and played with it all night. SO glad we forgot about it for Christmas! 

We had the kids rooms mostly set up before they got in, but Liam's bed still needed to be put together. He didn't seem to mind at all that he just had a mattress and got straight to jumping! 

The kids are beside themselves. They literally run from room to room not knowing where to play first! They spend a lot of time rolling around on the carpet, Liesl tries to sneak up the stairs any chance she gets, and Liam wants to show his playroom off to anyone who walks in. 

Saturday night was the first night we slept in the house. Both kids did pretty good! Liesl slept all night in her crib, but Liam snuck down into our bed at some point during the night. We didn't even know he was there until the next morning. I asked him if he made it down the stairs okay and he said, "I tripped once but I saved myself." Ummm, great? 

Sunday was my mom's birthday! We had my family over to celebrate and my mom was our first overnight guest! She was a huge help Sunday and Monday with the kids while we continued unpacking. And she was a fun shopping partner. :) 

Monday, Will took off work and we spent the day hanging things on the wall and making our house feel like home! I really think driving that first nail in the wall made it feel really real! 

Tuesday was our first "back to reality" day. Will went to work, Liam went to school, and Liesl and I hung out at home. We spent the morning playing in her room and then the afternoon was spent running errands around town.

Today we had some friends over for our first playdate! 

After naps, we just spent the rest of the day lounging. I thought this picture was hilarious. Sometimes waking up is HARD, y'all. 

I am so excited that tomorrow is another SNOW DAY! Liam's school is canceled and Will's work is closed, so we are going to keep unpacking and maybe, just maybe, get those lanterns installed! 

Show & Tell Tuesday: My Favorite ROOM!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! 

We are MOVED IN! 

Well, like 85% moved in. There are still a few little things here and there at our old house we need to collect. But we are in and we LOVE IT! I'll do a recap of our move soon, but today I waned to link up with Andrea @ Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday. Today is all about your favorite room so I had to jump in! Of course, right now every room is my favorite room, but I actually took some real pictures of the kitchen yesterday for my interior designer's "before" pictures, so that's going to be the room I show off today! 

It is very bare bones right now because I love how white and clean it currently is, so I'm refusing to set much of anything out on the counters yet!

We still need to get all of our hardware installed, hopefully this week or next, and I chose this collection from Pottery Barn in oil rubbed bronze. 

Two of these lanterns from Shades of Light are going to replace the pendants over the island. They actually just arrived last night, so I'm hoping my husband is feeling handy tonight and wants to install them! 

The back wall is where I intended a gorgeous open shelving unit that I bought months ago to go, but alas, I didn't read the dimensions carefully and it is literally one to two inches too wide! (Luckily, it works beautifully in the dining room!) I put my bar cart in the space for now, and my interior designer, Tracey, came up with the great idea of adding an old door and a large framed chalkboard! We are still on the hunt for a door and will probably DIY a chalkboard, so that little area is still a work in progress!

So that's our kitchen so far! It has gotten the most use so far which is exactly how I like it. We cooked our first meal yesterday - mac and cheese for the kids for lunch! So fitting.
