The New 'Do

So I took the plunge and got my hair cut today. It took longer to schedule then I expected because the first time I called I found out the woman I wanted was out for 10 days because she cut her hand! Is that supposed to be an omen?? Possibly. But then I decided I don't believe in those and rescheduled her for today. Here goes...

Before

After

I like it, but I'm still getting used to it. We went to the pool this afternoon, and I'm having a hard time styling it post-shower. I tried to straighten it but it looks too choppy...I think I need to give it a week or so to grow out before I'll really figure out what to do with it. Isn't that how it always works? Right? RIGHT????

Laundry Time

Today Natalie's home tour is featuring laundry rooms!
Not much has been done to ours since we moved in. I have almost started working on it many times, but it just hasn't happened yet. It currently looks like this...

Quite small but it has potential. One thing I've learned is that for me it's almost harder to decorate small spaces like this one over large spaces. It's too small to use every idea I have, but I'm too indecisive to chose just one! So it sits like this for a year. I do have baskets on the shelf now to hold all the cleaning supplies, but that's it so far.

If I had no size/budget restrictions, my laundry room might look like one of these...

Monday Randoms

Target has a new line of nail polish and I love it. It's called Essie and they have tons of fun colors for summer. I got Rose Bowl for my toes and Like Linen for my fingers.

I got this swimsuit for our upcoming vacation!

I stalked the Target guy for a good 30 min. while he stocked this week's magazines. He was on his cell phone and was taking f.o.r.e.v.e.r. It was worth it though, I finally got my hands on the new People magazine.

Drum roll please, I'm cooking dinner tonight! Spaghetti and meatballs. And the meatballs are from scratch so this meal might have to count as my Summer 2010 dinner because I'm not sure when it will happen again!

Home Sweet Home

My mom and I were in Louisiana most of last week. We left the day after I got back from Houston. LOTS of driving. It feels really good to be home.

I had some posts scheduled, but I have been pretty absent. Sorry bout that!

We spent most of the week at the hospital visiting a family member who is there and catching up with lots of relatives we don't get to see too often.

When we needed to get away for a few hours we did what we do best - shopped! There were some great antique stores near us and...what happened to be in the next town over? Just an item to cross off my Summer 2010 list - Paul Michael's!

I found these from an antique store

Isn't this cheese dome so cute? It looks very similar to this one from C&B, only mine was $3! I probably won't use it for cheese, but I'll find something fun to go inside.

I couldn't resist this guy. It's a cornbread baking mold thing that makes the cornbread into little mini corn on the cobs! Cornbread will definitely be on the menu sometime this week!

And I found this frame at a cute little store called The Beehive. It has shoes, jewelry, and home decor. I may or may not have also walked away with two new pairs of shoes...

It still has the picture it came with inside, but I'm thinking about putting our monogram in it instead of a picture.

And Paul Michael's. It's a gigantic home decor warehouse. And everything was 25% off. Score!

I thought this plate would be cute to display. If I ever get around to making a plate wall this will be on it.

I looooove cake stands. I may be accidentally starting a collection of them, but I may have secretly done it on purpose :)

These guys were an impulse buy - super cute and super cheap. I'm thinking of hanging them in the kitchen to use as recipe holders.

Cake stand #2.
I thought I would paint the stand white because pink isn't really in my home's color palette, but....

it looks sooo cute with a pink cupcake on top!
Perfect for a little girls birthday party someday!

5QF!

Five Question Friday!

Hosted by My Little Life

1. What is one food you could eat everyday?

Mac-n-cheese. I know, I'm sooooo healthy. Seriously though, it's the best.
2. Are you working in the career you thought you would be when you were 18?

Heck no. I thought I would be in NYC working in some swanky art gallery living the fabulous life. Instead I'm living in the 'burbs with my hubby teaching small children. I still think my life is pretty fabulous though, funny how things change. :)
3. What is something that you wish you would have done when you were younger and you didn't?

Stuck to something. I've played just about every sport and instrument, and was "good" at them all. I never felt like I became "great" at anything. I want my kids to try tons of things, but I want them to have one constant thing they can become somewhat "great" at. Maybe piano or tennis or something.
4. What color are your kitchen walls?

A milky white color. Whatever we chose when we built it.

5. Do you remember what your very first favorite song was?

Tim McGraw - Don't Take the Girl. Me and my best friend learned every word and we were obsessed with it. I think we were seven.

Summer Boob Tube

I was looking forward to everything about summer except the TV lineup. All my shows were ending, and I was dreading sitting at home having nothing good to watch. OH my gosh, how wrong was I!?! There are some of the best shows on right now - these are my current faves!

Cake Boss

I like TLC in general, but this is my favorite show on it right now. It's one loud crazy Italian love fest! And of course their cakes look amazing too. Will and I love to watch it together, and when/if I can ever convince him to take me to New York, we are taking the train to Hoboken!

Real Housewives Of New Jersey

Bravo is quickly becoming my second favorite TV channel. Will's sister and Joanna got me into Housewives and I watch New Jersey and New York, but Jersey is by far my favorite. What can I say, I love me some big Italian families and their drama! Except for Danielle, she is a trainwreck.

Bethenny Getting Married??

She was my favorite New York character so of course I love her spin-off. I have to DVR her show and watch it the next day because of our other Thursday shows, so I am usually sitting alone in my house laughing hysterically. She's the typical New York work-a-holic b*tch and I LOVE it! Plus she looks super cute preggers.

Boston Med

I stopped watching Grey's awhile ago, so this is my new medical show. I liked Grey's for the drama, but I love that this is a documentary so it's obviously much more realistic. It does have clips of people dying, but each episode focuses on a few doctors and families and their stories. The thing I like best is that it's just a very hopeful show. All the families so far have had good endings; it's not just about crazy operations and blood and guts and drama. There's only been two episodes, but so far they have each left me in tears. It's SO good! I couldn't find a good promo pic, so I posted the trailor.
