Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!!

I had such a great weekend because I finally got to see my Rozzy again! She is one of my very best friends from Baylor and she is now in grad school in TN. She is on spring break this weekend, as am I, so she flew in to Dallas for a short visit! Ros, Nat, and I got in some good girl time this weekend full of girl talk, taking silly photos, shopping, and yes, even some HSM!

Reunited at last! Me, Rosalind, Natty

Friday afternoon I picked Ros up from the airport and we met Nat at my apt for some girl talk. All of us plus Will, Ros' brother, and about 8 of his friends met up for dinner at The Porch in Dallas which has the best mac n cheese I have ever had! We enjoyed food, drinks, and watching Baylor beat UT! (Sic 'em!) Afterwards, instead of going out on the town like normal young people might do, we had a sleepover and watched....High School Musical. Yep. Will had to get up early so he willingly went to bed and let us take over the living room. I had never seen HSM before so we settled in and enjoyed watching Zac Efron check himself out in the locker room mirror. I did like some of the music though. Just some. I swear.

Natty, Ros, Me after dinner

Saturday we all went over to Ros' brother's friend's house for a crawfish boil. YUM! His friend lives next to Greenville Ave which is where the Dallas St. Patty's Day parade takes place, and they close the road off for people to bar hop all day. We didn't partake in the Greenville festivities but we had a good time eating crawfish and chatting on the front lawn (even if it was 45* outside)!

The ONLY way to eat crawfish

YUM! Ros and her cousin Catherine are from Lafayette, La....they taught us the real way to eat crawdads

What better way to ease the fire in your mouth from cajun spices? Milkshakes of course!

Or in Will's case, a chocolate malt. Extra malt.

Later, me, Ros, and Catherine roamed the mall and went to see Confessions of A Shopaholic. Extremely cheesy and predictable but cute. Isla Fisher is adorable.

Today (Sunday) Will and I went to Rockwall for one of his family member's wedding and I'm so mad I forgot my camera! The wedding was great, the groom was Will's dad's cousin and the bride was a co-worker of Will's mom and they are super cute together! I just love weddings, Will and I have at least 3 more this year and I'm so excited about them all!

I have spring break this week which means I will be hopefully getting a tan but definitely studying all day every day! I am taking the teaching exam in 3 weeks, yikes!

And to close, my favorite HSM quote: "It's a fan favorite. Everybody loves a good JAZZ SQUARE!"

"Way Back Whensday"

Seeing as how most "Wordless Wednesdays" are posts of people's babies in various states of adorable (and as cute as she is, Toula pretty much looks exactly the same in every picture I take of her), I've decided to join in with Raechel and her brilliant idea entitled, "Way Back Whensdays."

According to Raechel, "it's just a fun chance to post an old photo or two and to reflect on where we've come from and thus, look ahead to where God is taking us."

I like the sound of that. Plus it fits somewhat with what I was going to post anyways. Without further ado, my "Way Back Whensday" post is about....my Papaw.

My aunt stumbled upon some old rolls of film recently and out of curiosity had them developed. They were filled with old pictures of my grandparents when they were first married and some photos of my grandfather and his navy buddies when they were stationed in Pearl Harbor. This is of the latter. My papaw is now 84, still married to my Mamaw, and while he has a tendency to forget what he said 5 seconds earlier, he still remembers his days in the navy during WWII. And he was so handsome! I especially love the super short swim trunks with the bucking broncos on them...sporting his Texas heritage even in Hawaii!

There was another picture I loved that he took. It was of all his buddies sitting on the beach with beers cans that spelled out V - J. Victory over Japan. They were celebrating the end of the war! How cool is it to have a picture of that?!?

-------------

Needless to say, I spent the day at my grandparents' house today. I didn't work, so I joined my parents who were going over there to work on one of their bathrooms. I know I posted a picture recently of some cross-stitch that my grandmother made for me and Will, but I have to post just one more of her talents...

She is an excellent crocheter (is that correct!?). This is our future child's baby blanket. Haha. Already made and ready to be cuddled with. She has stacks and stacks of crocheted afgans, and way back when I requested a gender-neutral white one that I could use with all my babies. I guess now I just need those babies! :)
------------
On the house front, I made a trip to Lowe's with my parents this afternoon and check out what I snatched up gracefully placed in my purse. I mean they're free, but they probably don't appreciate you taking one of each from every section. Especially when they ask if you need assistance and you say, "No thank you, just looking." Oops. Looks like Will and I have a lot of decisions to make!

Because I'm a sucker for a good survey...

Who's Who

1. What is your husband's name? William Christopher Lofland - His dad and grandfather are also William but they have different middle names.

2. How long have you been married? 9 months, 12 days

3. How long did you date? 2 years, 3 months. Not terribly long but nearly two years of that was long distance so we were ready to be married and in the same city!

4. How old is he? 24, about to be 25. He is not thrilled.

5. Who is taller? HA. Will is almost an entire foot taller than me...he's 6'3", I'm 5'4"

6. Who can sing best? I sing more but Will is better. Truthfully, anyone is better...

7. Who is smarter? Definitely Will. He is brilliant- he tries to tell me about work stuff and I just sit and stare blankly until he gives up...I do know more about art than him though!

8. Who does the laundry? We both do our own. He doesn't trust me with his laundry and I don't blame him. I've been known to shrink a sweater or two.

9. Who pays the bills? Will. Online. I can't even access our account because I forgot my password.

10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Will currently. But he stole it from me and I will get it back!

11. Who mows the lawn? We don't have a lawn but in the future probably Will. Unless we get a riding lawn mower - they're easy and you can get a tan!

12. Who cooks the meals? Desserts, holiday meals, family gatherings, etc. - Me. Daily meals - Will cooks the meat, I prepare the sides.

13. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? It's pretty equal. We're both stubborn but we know how to own up to our mistakes.

14. Who kissed who first? Will kissed me (rather boldly I might add).

15. Who wears the pants? 50/50 I'd say.

All you newlyweds out there - Emily, Alissa, Cassidy, and Sarah - consider yourself "tagged!"

Home Sweet (Future) Home!

We picked out our lot today!

This is as close as we'll get to a picture with the "sold" sign since we're building, so as of this afternoon, lot 298 is no longer "available" because we now own it!

This is what our house will look like minus a few details such as two single garage doors like below...

This is the brick/stone color of our house....for now. I keep changing my mind...

We spent the day going back over all our choices for the house, tweaking here and there, and adding to the list....and lucky us, we got them to lower our price a bit too! We are hoping to have a construction meeting with the builder next week, and from there our house should be built and ready to move in within 90 days! We are very excited!

----------------------------------------------

In other less interesting news, my TExES Content EC-4 book came in today. The two of us will be attached at the hip for the next few weeks while I cram for the test. I wasn't aware I had to take this test until about two weeks ago so this could be interesting, and I have to pass it before I can be eligible for the Region 10 Alternative Certification Program. Test scores take about a week to get back and my first job fair is April 4th. If I'm not in the Region 10 program by the day of the job fair there's no point in going because I will have nothing to offer. No pressure.

I should probably start studying now, but Will and I bought Eagly Eye tonight and it's really good so far. I guess I'll start tomorrow.

Digital Brag Book

I know brag books are traditionally meant to hold pictures of someone's children/grandchildren, but when you have cousins as cute as mine who happen to come visit, you have to stretch the brag book boundaries. So this past Saturday when Jack (5 yr. old) and Jacob (8 months old) came over, I couldn't resist a little photo shoot. How cute are they!?!

How cute is Will with a baby! *wink wink* JK!

Will's new WWF partner

No love for Toula!

cute baby, bad lighting

They are such cutie pies! I do NOT get to see them often enough!

Happy Birthday To My Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday! Will and I spent the evening at my parent's house enjoying food, cake, and presents with the fam. Some of our extended family came in town yesterday to visit, so it was more of a birthday weekend which is always better. I think my mom had a great birthday and I bet she can't wait to celebrate another one next year ;) Love you, MOM!!!

Doesn't she look hot for 25?!?!

She loved her rooster! Will and I are collecting the Rooster Francais collection from Willliams-Sonoma for her future log cabin kitchen. She also got some cute goodies from Nate and Melinda but the picture came out blurry and I didn't think she would appreciate me posting it. You're welcome, Mom :)

Her BIG b-day present!!!!

Lookin' good in the Jag Mom!
More pics soon from the rest of the weekend, but Mom gets her own post because she's special :) Mom, I hope you enjoyed your day because you deserve it more than anyone else in the whole world! I love you Mama!
