Babies Don't Keep

My mom has the last stanza of this poem on a plaque in her nursery. I read it all the time when I'm nursing Liam. I had actually never read the entire poem until tonight. But the last part is still my favorite :)

Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed (um, being a SAHM is HARD!) I think about this poem and take some time out to snuggle Liam. He really does make everything better. It's disgusting how much I love him.

Babies Don't Keep

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Wednesday Love!

link up with Jamie!

{ONE}
My cute kiddos! As miserable as I sometimes feel waddling around all day, I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that I only have two weeks left with my kids. I'm really excited my team was able to squeeze in our field trip before I leave - it's going to be the day before my last day so I'm hoping it will be a fun last memory! And of course I will be up at the school a lot visiting them and my coworkers - I don't want them to forget me!

(iphone pic = blech)

{TWO}
The Gilligan and O'Malley line at Target. I went today and got some comfy pj's for the hospital (I read to buy a few new items you won't mind throwing away after) and a cute robe for pictures. Gotta hide that ever-so-fashionable hospital gown! They also sell nursing bras for $12.99 in case you are in the market. I was going to get one from BRUs but theirs are like $40. Um, scratch that idea!

{THREE}
I have loved driving around the past two days with a carseat in the backseat. I know we only really need to keep the base in there, but I like it so it stays =)

{FOUR}
I FINISHED my lesson plans! I have to laugh out loud when people comment that I'm so organized because I am probably the most un-organized person I know! Instead I'm the world's biggest procrastinator who happens to work well under pressure. Who else would wait until three weeks before maternity leave to start making eleven weeks worth of plans!?

{FIVE}
That we may be getting a new washer this weekend! Our current one is acting fishy so we're having it looked at tomorrow. Will has put a cap on how much he's willing to pay for repairs so if the estimate is over that we're just going to get a brand-spanking new one! And I think Will secretly hopes it's over the limit because he has his eye on a front-loader at Costco. =)

{SIX}
I got an invitation in the mail today for one of my other baby showers! I feel a little silly saying that I'm having four showers, but they are all hosted by very different groups of people. I had a work shower, I will have a girlfriends shower this Saturday as well as one hosted by my awesome sunday school class on Sunday, and the next weekend is my family shower. They are all going to be pretty small and low key minus the family one, and I feel very blessed that this many people want to shower Liam and I with so much love! I'm not going to need anymore showers for future children because I think we will have everything we need pretty soon!

{SEVEN}
And I'm currently loving that Will is on his way home with dinner because I'm starving!

Wednesday Love

via Jamie!

{ONE}
I'm loving that we are having another snow day today! No snow this time, but there was a lot of sleet this morning. Not too bad though because we managed to get out and about quite a bit today.

{TWO}
I'm loving that Will and I drove into Dallas and picked up some things for Liam today. We got...

...his coming home outfit!
It's a little different than the one I posted before - no sleeves or collar but same design. I am in love with it!

...letters for his nursery!

...his Christmas stocking!
This find was so random because we had been to this particular PB Kids at least 3 times since Christmas and they were out of the reindeer stocking every time. But today of all days it was sitting in the sale section on a shelf by itself! The cashier said someone must have returned it recently because they had been completely out. And it was only $10!

{THREE}
I'm loving that we got to see our little man again today! I'm sure these sonogram pictures are getting really old to some of y'all, but not to me so sorry! =)

He has GROWN since our last sono 3 weeks ago. He was right at 3 lbs. last time and today he weighed 4 pounds 9 ounces! His body was measuring in the 60th percentile and his head was measuring in the....wait for it....78th percentile! Yeah, my baby has a big noggin! Apparently he takes after his daddy in that department according to my mother-in-law. Other than that he was healthy as can be and looking adorable as always. I can't wait to meet him!

{FOUR}
I'm loving that I got my shower invite in the mail this week! I can't wait!

{FIVE}
I'm loving my sweet hubby! He made cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning and watched One Born Every Minute with me. He's a keeper!

{SIX}
I'm loving that I'm back in my PJ's and about to go take a nap!

Happy Wednesday!

2 Years!

Will and I had a wonderful 2nd Anniversary! Considering it was a weekday and I had a doctor's appointment that afternoon, we made the most of the time we had together celebrating our newest milestone!

We exchanged gifts early that morning per William's request. I'll have to dedicate an entire post to what he got me because I love it that much! Since year 2 is cotton, I tried to get something for Will with cotton in it. Did you know ties don't have any cotton? Not even like 1%? I didn't either, but Will loved it so oh well! I got him a Baylor tie from the new Vineyard Vines College Collection. He wore it to work that day :)

After work Will met me at the hospital from some "quick bloodwork." Well quick ended up being nearly 2 hours....but two doctors and two cotton balls on my arms later we finally got out of there. We rushed home to change and pack dinner, then we were back on the road to Dallas!

The Dallas Arboretum hosts Twilight Tuesdays where jazz bands perform outdoor concerts on the grounds. The arboretum was gorgeous (another touristy place I had never been before!) and we enjoyed a Central Market dinner on the grass listening to Jennifer Baldwin and the Vibes. It was perfect! I got some good use out of my gift there too! Here are some pictures from our night....

best seat in the house.

The lawn.
We were surprised at how many people come out to these things! It was a first for us, but definitely not the last. Must add it to the summer list.

The band.

My cute hubby with a mouthful of sandwich!

2 Years down!

Today was the last day of work this week for me. Surgery tomorrow @ 9am then relaxing/recovering until Tuesday. I'm really sad about missing my friend's wedding this weekend but I know it will be beautiful! I may have some visitors on Sunday so I do have that to look forward too. And my mommy is coming to spend the weekend because apparently I'm whiney when I don't feel good and Will needs reinforcements. I don't know what he's talking about :)

Sunshine.

I've got sunshine,

on a cloudy day...

when it's cold outside,

I've got the month of May...

Well, I guess you say...what can make me feel this way?

my guy :)

These last couple of weeks have been really trying, which I may or may not decide to discuss later on, but just know...this guy has made it all manageable. Even somewhat positive. I can't believe it's almost been two years and he's not sick of me yet. I don't know what I'd do without him.

What should we do for our 2nd Anniversary? Any ideas? Last year we went away for the weekend, but this year it's on a Tuesday and going out of town the weekend before or after is not an option. Dinner is about it I suppose. I'm not being very creative at the moment...

Show Us Your Life - How I Met My Husband

I actually did a post on this a while back when I first started blogging, so I'm going to send you there! Most of you probably have never read it because it's from 2008 when my only follower was my mom, ha :)

Enjoy the love-fest and head over to Kelly's Korner for more!

V-Day Shenanigans.

Our Valentine's Day celebration actually started on Saturday.
My brother and his girlfriend came to visit and we all went out to eat and to see Valentine's Day. It was very cute.

Sunday we started out the day with a yummy breakfast cooked by the hubs - french toast!

Lunch with Will's parents was also delicious - shrimp and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert! After that we went to Barnes & Noble and spent the afternoon sipping Starbucks and pouring over travel books. I am so lucky to have such an experienced travel buddy because he knows all the high speed train routes in Europe and has made mapping out our Italy trip much easier!

I also made a lovey dovey TV only rule, so we caught bits of Pretty Woman, You've Got Mail, Jane Austen Book Club, and A Good Year . Some of my very favorites!

Dinner was AMAZING and again courtesy of the hubs - steak, asparagus, and bread - SO delicious!

The set-up complete with V-day flowers from my Valentine :)

I made the dessert I had planned, Ina Garten's Strawberry Shortcake, and it was a big hit! Although I have to admit I didn't feel like making biscuits from scratch so I just used Pillsbury, shh don't tell Ina. The whipped cream was homemade though!

YUM.

Yes we dressed up to eat at home. That's how we roll.

Happy LoVe Day!

The Proposal!

On April 8, 2007, also known as Easter Sunday, Will and I became engaged!

Will and I drove to Louisiana from Texas to spend Easter weekend with my mom's side of the family. The drive didn't get off on the right foot to say the least. 45 min into it, we got pulled over and even though I had a lap full of frosted cookies shaped like bunnies and even though Will was holding the world's cutest puppy, Toula, he still got a ticket!

Fast forward about a day, Will has met my mom's entire side of the family (and survived). All throughout the day I have been begging him to let me open the easter basket his "mom" packed for us. I knew there were cadbury eggs in there and I wanted them. Little did I know there was something in there I wanted more.

So Sunday morning arrives and we're all sitting at the kitchen table in pj's with easter bags from my mom and a smaller basket with one egg in it from Will's mom. I probably should have known then but somehow, I didn't catch on. I knew it was coming, but I guess I thought he'd had a big enough weekend meeting my family that he wouldn't throw an engagement in too!

However, when I opened that pink and purple egg and saw the most beautiful shiny, mahogany box, I was so wrong. And so happy! And so shocked! So shocked in fact that I don't remember all the sweet things Will said and my heartfelt response to his life changing question...."OK." Seriously, how lame am I?? I was so nervous with my mom, dad, brother, aunt, and uncle staring at us and embarassed because my mom kept snapping a million pictures....all I could muster was an OK! Either way, I used a synonym of yes, and we were engaged!

The proposal!

Trying to get my other ring off so Will could put THE ring on!

While I sometimes wish I had prepared a better response, maybe put on a cuter outfit and some makeup, it was one of the best moments of mFont sizey life. Probably the best until my wedding day. I made the smartest decision of my life. And all I had to do was say OK!

The ring!

We're engaged!!

And here are some of the engagement pics...

And that's our story!
